I know I want to get better and it has been a long time since I've done anything in regards to my disorder...but I still have thoughts of it. What should I do when I have these thoughts.? Sometimes their so hard to make them stop and I'm afraid that one time I am going to do something, and then once again I won't be able to stop...Help please.? Health Question & Answer

Hello. I totally understand. I had bulimia/anorexia for many years and still struggle now. Because food is not something you can live without, eating disorders are so difficult to treat and beat.

Here are some things that helped me:
1) Journal. Everytime you have an issue with food or want to engage in eating disorder behavior, write or draw. Or just color. Allow your feelings to come out on paper.

2) Get a pet. Whenever issues come up, play with your pet. They really help take your mind off stuff!

3) Go out and leave. Go for a walk or goto the store and shop. Just get away.

4) Call a friend and talk with them. Or ask them to go out with you.

These are some things that help me. It is really hard, but you can do it. Health Question & Answer

You need to find distractions from those thoughts and triggers. You can call a hotline for help. I suggest you go for counseling and ask for tools that can help you fight these urges.
