Why don't I want to end it all?!

Question: Why don't I want to end it all.?
What I mean by this is:
I just don't want to do anything with my life, but I don't know why not.
I have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, so, I don't think I'll ever be an adult inside my mind.
I haven't had an easy life.
I dropped out of high school, I never learned anything whilst there (but not through lack of trying) I was bullied all the time (so were lots of people but this isn't all about that) And I don't have a single friend.
And there are lots of other thing that I do not want to mention, but have really steared my life in a bad direction.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is:
I'm 18 years old, I have no job, no experience, no friends and no life.
But, I'm not suicidal and I don't drink or smoke.
I do nothing to try and hide from it all.
I wouldn't call my self "Emo".
1: Because I don't listen o the music or wear the clothing.
2: Because I don't really ever get emotional about anything.
I don't cry about my life, I just sit and think.

My question is:

Am I just an emotionless robot.?Health Question & Answer

I am very glad you do not want to end it all, and am also very sorry you have had such a rough time.

The first thought that popped into my mind when I read your question was Ecclesiastes 3:11 (in the Bible) - "Everything he has made pretty in its time. Even time indefinite he has put in their heart, that mankind may never find out the work that the true God has made from the start to the finish." We were created with "time indefinite" in our heart, a desire for life and a desire to continue learning about things. For more details on that, and comfort, please see the article "God Really Cares About You" at http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040701/art...

My nephew has Asperger's syndrome. While that does cause him to be less emotional than others might be, he also likes to think about things. So if something bad happens, he won't sit and cry about it, he will analyze it. I wish I could be less emotional about things sometimes - I think a lot of us do. The way you handle things doesn't mean that you are an emotionless robot - you still have feelings, you just process them differently. If you would like some practical advice on how to make friends, this article entitled "How to Make Real Friends" at http://www.watchtower.org/e/20041208/art... might help.

The Bible talks about a wonderful hope for all of us, in the near future, when sickness of all sorts will be a thing of the past. (Isaiah 33:24, Revelation 21:4) The article "When Sickness Is No More!" at http://www.watchtower.org/e/200701/artic... talks about how we can draw comfort from that promise.

Please continue to endure and know that you are cared about. Psalm 72:12-14, talks about how Jehovah God's appointed King, Jesus Christ, "will deliver the poor one crying for help, also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper." For more information regarding that, please see the article entitled "Soon-- A World Without Despair" at http://www.watchtower.org/e/20000915/art...

I am proud of you for hanging in there, glad that you took the time to ask this question, and I hope that you find some comfort from the articles linked above. Listen. take it from me. A psychology graduate.
Psychologist are all about trying to diagnose everyone, even the "healthy people". There is no "normal" so please take your diagnosis with a grain of salt.

You are 18 years old. You are still very young.

W/ regard to education: Although you dropped out of high school alot of people go through rough patches and get bullied. The great news is that you can go back to school or get a GED. Then apply to a community college and transfer to a 4 year university.

W/ regard to friends and activities: get involved in an organization that you are passionate about whether it be PETA, operation smile, autism speaks. Just anything that can take up some time and make you feel like ur accomplishing something, you are bound to meet 1 or two people there that u can make friends with. Try to smile when u meet people it gives a sense of interest.

also once u enroll in college there are alot of people to meet, alot of organizations to join and tons of things to do. Do not involve yourself in drugs. Don't look at your life as if it is over because u have so much to do.

also, pick up a newspaper from the store and look in the classified for a job, any job. its okay to start small.

You have a second chance. So start right now! google GED centers around ur way.Health Question & Answer

Dont be silly, Just by you asking this question i can tell you have emotion. You're obviously slightly worried and concerned and have a strong heart (as in love), thats emotion, emotion isn't just happiness and sadness. I've researched Aspergers and all you should try and do is be a bit more wild. Try and have fun, be over the top and flamboyant without doing anything to dangerous. And i'm sure if you made the effort you would easily make a friend.Health Question & Answer

I'm very sorry. My best friend has Asperger's Syndrome, and another one of my friends from Track has it as well. You are most certainly not an emotionless robot. You just know that life does get better, and we were given life for a reason. You can be an adult, and you must count your blessings. In fact, my two friends have both almost completely overcome their Asperger's syndrome, and I know a guy that has overcome tourettes. I believe we are given what we can deal with, and I know that you can overcome this. My mom has had severe arthritis in all of her joints (Hips, elbows, shoulders, thumbs) for almost 11 years, and she is the strongest person I know. My mom is 51 and just today finished a half-marathon without walking in 2 hours and 9 minutes. You can live a wonderful life, and remember that you will find friends. I know it is hard meeting new people with Aspergers, but you can do it! My best friend has pushed past her Asperger's and is now one of the most popular (in the good meaning.) people at my Junior High. You are made unique and wonderful, and life may sometimes be extremely rough, but remember that you can overcome anything!Health Question & Answer
