Considering there's all those hormones flying around and what not.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Depression usually has to do with certain things missing in the diet and lack of exercise each day. Teenagers need to eat healthy and get out and run around, just like kids. Just because they are older than kids, doesn't mean that they've stopped growing physically and definitely mentally. They have a lot to go. What people do as teenagers will affect them for the rest of their lives. They need exercise. They need appreciation. They need support, and most of all, they need a diet filled with fruits and vegetables snuck into their meals, if they don't like vegetables, and a diet with all the nutrients. It is important for them to rest appropriately, eat properly, relax when they are having a rough time, and exercise between classes, because their brains will stop growing certain parts by the time they are in their twenties, and it will be too late to reverse certain ideas that they have about things when they become adults, if they are not looked after like their brain and their body are still growing as teenagers. Teenagers are like kids. They have not stopped growing, just because they look more mature or adult like than kids. They need just as much support and love as a kid. It's important and incredibly beneficial that they get the best support they can.Health Question & Answer

it depends, for many it would just blow over but for others its the beggining of any form of mental illness. It may just be a depression or it may evolve into a schizophrenic or bipolar state, but the good news is the majority of people wont develope a life long mental illness, and if any symptoms do occur in young age, then your in the best position of getting proper treatment, because once your body has fully developed then it is much harder to treat mental illness.Health Question & Answer

Hi Pickled Emerald,

Teen depression cannot always be prevented, but there are some things that can help reduce the chances of an episode of depression in a teen who is at risk.

Some of the causes of depression in teenagers seem to be genetic, and those cannot be changed, but other triggers of teen depression can be avoided. Some of the risk factors for teen depression include:

A family or personal history of depression
A long-term illness or disability, whether physical or mental
Experiencing a trauma or loss, including abuse, divorce of parents, death of a loved one, or a break-up
Difficulties at home, at school, or with friends
If you are a teen who has suffered from depression, or who has other risk factors for teen depression, there are some things you can do to help prevent an episode of depression:

Avoid drugs and alcohol
