Question about depression(please help)?!

Question: Question about depression(please help).?
i have been diagnosed with depression for 6 months now. i talk to a doctor and i am on meds. i use to not care about anything...my grades were slipping, all i wanted to do was be alone, i woud cry for hours on end everyday for no reason, getting up everyday would be a hastle, and i felt worthless and for some reason a strong feeling of anger. things got worse, i started to cut to the point where i cut so much that i couldnt hide my scars anymore. i thought/attempted suicide by trying to bleed to death. now, after 6 months of treatment, im starting to feel all of the anger and sadness again. i think about suicide often and its hard not to cut. my parents always say they understand&everything will be alright, but really they dont understand. its so hard to talk to them. please, what should i do.? do i need to be put on new meds, hospitalizaion, etc.? i just want it to stop!Health Question & Answer

You need to see the doctor again. Your body has probably adjusted to the meds so they aren't working well anymore. I don't know how you would tell your parents but I really think you need to see the doc again. Being hospitalized is an option if you are willing to take it. They will help you get used to any new meds the doc puts you on and will keep you safe for as long as it takes to get you feeling a little better.Health Question & Answer

Please, let your doctor/counsellor know that you are relapsing in your symptoms. You may need a change or adjustment to your medications.

In the meantime, I found a website that is very comforting and helped me to have hope and keep going. The great thing is that the site offers a lot of education and support resources. I urge you to try it.

yes..you need additional help. it seems to me that your parents are to passive on this but when are they going to realize that you do need help.? when its too late.? Health Question & Answer

Hi. I'm glad that you realize that you need help.

First of all, make an appointment with your doctor. Explain to him/her all your symptoms.

Second....and just as important (or maybe more important).....are you going to a counselor or a psychologist to help you with your anger, depression, cutting.? You really need to TALK to someone! (I know...I have "been there.')

I am so happy to hear that your parents are understanding. That is a big plus for you. But, I firmly believe that you need an outsider to help you sort through your anger and depression.

So...ask you doctor who he/she recommends. He/she will be able to refer you to someone. And.....if that person is not helping you....go to someone else!!

I really think that with the right medication AND counseling, you will be on the road to a much brighter outlook and future.

Good luck to you.Health Question & Answer

i think you should go see your counsellor again, i recommend not going on antidepressants. they are a quick fix and often lead to other problems. some suggestions: keep yourself busy - watch tv, surf the net, listen to music, find a hobby, hang out with friends. also, be careful of whats in ur diet - turkey, and sesame seeds are good for people with depression as they produce tryptophan which makes serotonin and our brain needs lots of serotonin!!!

hang in there - i know its hard to feel that things will get better - but just believe u will reach a state where things are okayHealth Question & Answer

It will seem worse than suicide to tell your therapist, but do. He/She will know what to do. You will probably be put on new meds and possibly have a small evaluation done by a psychiatrist. I know the parental situation, I face the same problem. Parents obviously want to help, but I think it's hard for them to remember what it was like when they were our age, besides we face different things than they did, much different. They think they know whats best though, sometimes I just let them think what they want so they don't try and bug me anymore.

Just tell your therapist/doctor and things will get better, hang in there.Health Question & Answer

why dont you go back and talk to a doctor try and get out of the house and read books and do activitys like go to the gym and things like that to get your mind off of whatever makes you sad or angry you should aslo talk to the doctor about things your medication and try joining groups that have the same type of problem so you can meet people who have been or is going threw the same thing and learn how they overcame or how they deal with it in a more healthy way. sometimes it helps talking to people who have been their and seeing where they are now and how differnt they are now i hope things work out for you god bless....Health Question & Answer
