My husband believes that a person can not. That they already have it in them and if they do, they were going to do it any way. So any amount of bulling or degrading would never push some one over the edge.Health Question & Answer

Deanna, I read your profile....you are being abused. The "big dumb dog" does not have to hit in the head to be abused. Verbal abuse is often more harmful because the scars are on the inside.
It seems to me you should try confronting him, but by the sound of it, that wouldn't work.

Most ppl are driven to suicide by one thing or another,
its when so much of everything becomes too much for them that they begin to think seriously about suicide.
Ask your hubby 'If you were standing on the edge of a building ready to jump your'e kinda in a vulnerable situation, how would you expect to feel if someone was down below encouraging you , shouting abuse, and degrading you.?' yeah it just might be the 'final straw' the jumper needs.

Yes it is actually very easy for someone to be driven to killing themselves.
there are even movies based on how people are picked on for so long they get sick of it and complete suicide.

also if someone is already suicidal it is even easier to be pushed over the edge because their emotional health is so weak. I think however if someone is very suicidal they will complete it no mater what, unless they are talked out of it.Health Question & Answer

I believe everyone could be driven to suicide given the right circumstances. We all have our breaking point. Naturally most will never be in this position but for those with the right vulnerabilities lining up, yes they can be pushed.
Imagine someone who has been under massive pressure for many months, gets little sleep, eats sparingly and gets little social contact/support away from their work. Put this person in a room with a dripping tap and how long do you think it would be before they are screaming trying to shut it off.?
Suicide is an extreme action but when circumstances conspire, our innate coping ability is stretched to breaking point and it won't take much to send someone beyond their tolerance.

Yes if someone is so depressed they are not in there right mind and what you say to someone can make a great impact on them and what they are thinking. Most people who commit suicide really would not do it if they could just hear some good news right then and there it is when they feel ike no one cares. Everyone stays alive out of either one fear or two others that care so if you had someone say I am going to kill me self cause I don't feel important and you tell them they arent that sure will increase the chances of them doing it.Health Question & Answer
