I'm 14 and i have depression!?!

Question: I'm 14 and i have depression!.?
If you read some of my questions I asked before I don't exactly have an amazing life. So.... I was in fifth grade and it was a few days before school started and my pap was very sick and i went to check on him and i realized he was dead. I'm so sensitive it hit me like a truck I cried everyday for a very long time. I wouldn't even go outside during the summer i was so sad. When i tried to have fun i had trouble breathing and kept thinking i was going to die. (i had it severe). Like sometimes i was afraid to go to sleep because i thought i would die. It kept happening every summer except when i was going to ninth grade. But i got it again a few days ago! I hate this feeling! I tried telling my mom but she doesn't seem to understand she calls me a hypochondriac. I know this sounds really stupid but in sixth grade i watch the exorcism and it scared me to death. I was waking up at EXACTLY 3am like the movie and i had trouble sleeping and it took me three years to get over but then a scary incident happened at my friends house when i was sleeping over and it remembered me of it and I woke up 3am the next day and my mom wasnt home i was so scared. So then now i keep waking up around 3am so scared and i think it gave me depression again and i have trouble breathing! I need help please!!!! Im so scared i dont want to be afraid of the devil, i dont want depression, i dont want to have trouble breathing i get like panic attacks or something. I've been fighting with this 4 five years and i cant stand it! I get really weird feeling when i get depression or whatever i dont feel like myself!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Health Question & Answer

Check if you haven't got asthma. For years I thought I suffered from panic attacks. But it turned out to be asthma - that was triggered by stress.

You're young. Try not to use the word depression. You sound like a stressed teenager who takes life too serious sometimes. Which is okay but you need to start helping people who are even more unfortunate than you. This usually helps - eventually!

My father died when I was fourteen and life became moribund. What kept me going was knowing that I didn't know what was around the corner. Why don't you think more positive like I did.

The good news is that most teenagers go through this and a massive majority move on. You need to create some positive thoughts.Health Question & Answer

Okay, I have some medical and non-medical advice I could give you. Medical, would be to take a prescription paxil or alprazolam. I take paxil for the same issue. Trust me it took the anxiety away instantly. Non-medical would be some exersizes such as putting your feet flat on the floor and taking yourself in a different world. It's really peaceful. It gets your mind off of things for a while. Try to stay busy a lot. Working keeps my mind off of things. also, don't listen to peppy music. The loud noise will worsen this. Try slow music such as love songs. I hope this helps. Thank you for listening.Health Question & Answer

Hunny, it is always good to tell these things to your doctor. Talk to your mom about it and tell her "I just want to stop getting this feeling. can we go see the doctor to get help.?"

Ask your mom if you can get a pet(if you don't already have one). An older dog (not a puppy anymore) from a shelter has had a very moving experience on my life when I was depressed. He loved me and gave me something to love and I always know I have protection.

I think u need to stop watching scary movies, and stop thinking about everything too much, cause it sounds like your scaring yourself more then anythings else. your way too young, and your hormones are running wild so that could be the cause of your depression, and you obviuosly still alive after 4 years so thats good. I think you need to join in some kind of sport at school, and get more friends and talk more about it to ppl who care about u :)Health Question & Answer

The only thing i can say is get a counselor or a psychiatrist to talk to. I had depression when i was younger, but i found a way to relieve it. I started lifting weights alot and it just made me feel better all around. Try to find a hobby or activity you love to do and just do it.Health Question & Answer

First of all you sound like you are self-diagnosing ... bad idea. Sit down with your parents explain your symptoms to them. Maybe they will agree with you and make an appointment. If your parents aren't willing to help try talking to a relative, counselor or the nurse at your school. If they agree with your feelings they might be able to get your parents to take some action. Whatever you do don't self-diagnose. Let a professional decide.Health Question & Answer

You need to look on the bright side of things. You are young and have your hold life in front of you. All things are still possible for you. Now when you are old and your chances have passed and your life wasn't the way you wanted it to be...now that is depressing.Health Question & Answer

Ah, what do doctors know about depression. EVERYTHING has medical with those F*cking quacks. They live the pampered life. They don't know what depression is. All they know is surgery, and handing out those f*cking pills that are FDA approves to kill you faster. And, what really p*sses me off, is that most of the doctors know what the FDA is all for (which, by the way, is not to make you better, because they would lose profits that way), and they deny to the public what the truth really is. Don't get me wrong, they really do want to make you better, but... they really are indentured servents to the assholes known. as the f*cking FDA. And this is because they don't know any alternatives from drugs and surgery. Many people who have found alternatives and have tried to share them have been sued by the FDA to protect profits. So, in einsight, the FDA doesn't give a damn about you. Just your money. Bottom line, you don't need the f*cking pills. You just need to do some physical activities. Play some sports with a close friend. Go biking. Swimming, that'll work all your muscles. Just stay active and keep busy. It's hard to get over the death of a loved one. It took me forever to get over the death of my Great Grandfather. Nobody in my family relly liked him all that much accept for my grandmother, my dad, and myself. I looked to him. He was my hero. And then he died when I was just 8. I still think of him sometimes, but I know that he is in a better place. So I don't as sad as I did back then. You can't look at it as the end, because your dad still loves you, wherever he is. He will ALWAYS be with you inside your heart. My presiption, go out and enjoy yourself. That's what your dad would want.

Where's your mom at 3 am.? I'd say that issue might have a lot to do with where you are in all this more than anything else. I'll use your "Exorcist" idea for a second. One of the things that makes the movie frightening at a core level is what happens when you lose the connection to those who can help you. You've lost one of those, and the other isn't there when you need her.

No one here can tell whether you are depressed or not, but you need to find a way to have control and support in your life. If your mom won't help you in that, then start by speaking to a counselor at school. They can at least start you in the process of finding support.Health Question & Answer

You COULD have a talk with your mother and tell her that you may really need some type of counseling, or just tell her about these problems and say you want to 'try it out once'. If counseling/therapy works then I would say go for that.

I haven't been to therapy before in my life, so if you don't want that to be an option, to prevent the nightmares you can start eating healthier/exercising more. As well as go to bed earlier. Finding a hobby to preoccupy your mind would also help.Health Question & Answer

OK first RELAX for cruing out loud! Do something like yoga and try not to think about anything when doing that clear your mind! Ok now people cry on funerals not for the person who is dead but for their fear of dying! You need not to think about that! try to be more sociable and get a boyfriend and finding some kind of a hobby maybe sports(my personal Basketball) become strong and think of your pap as something in the past and don't let it break you down!becides many boys like girls who cry a lot :)
And play the record Be Happy don't worry...Memorise every word and sing it when you feel not cool ok.? good luck!Health Question & Answer
