Please help..............?!

Question: Please help...............?
I have zero confidence.
None whatsoever. I cry every single time I look in the mirror.
I rarely leave the house because I'm afraid of people thinking I'm fat.
I'm not necessarily overweight, but I could stand to lose a few pounds.
I've recently gotten over bulimia, where I lost weight fairly quick, and then tried to gain it all back in fear of getting too far into the disorder.
Ever since then, I refuse to leave the house without spending a few hours getting ready, trying to perfect myself, and all of my relationships with friends, family, etc, are completely ruined.
Everyone thinks I'm rude because I won't come around them,
but I can barely make it out of the house without bawling my eyes out.
I'm also afraid of losing weight, which is what I want to do.
But, I'm so scared that the eating disorder is going to come back,
that I won't diet or exercise.
If there's anyone who could give me some advice,
I will greatly appreciate anything told to me.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Well I would definitely go and see a nutritionist, and talk to other professionals that deal with your disorder. Do not feel bad about you looking in the mirror and crying, because everyone does it and that does not mean that you have no self confidence it just means that you are scared to think about what others might think of you and the way you look so try not to worry about it too much, and before you know it you will feel more up to leaving your house without spending so much time looking at yourself in the mirror and getting yourself ready:) If it makes you feel any better I myself used to sit and worry about my weight and stuff until I started to do things like ride bike, walk, jog and horseback ride, so it never hurts to exercise every so often=) And lastly, don't listen to what "grager14" said or what "Geranimal" said because obviously they have NO heart what so ever and should stop and think before they speak.
Hope I helped!!Health Question & Answer

First of all, please ignore "gragar14," who clearly has the compassion of a porcupine.

If you really fear that you might slip or relapse, talk with your treatment team. If you don't have a treatment team, find one! Recovery is NOT something that we can do alone.

Check out www.somethingfishy.org for some great tips and advice dealing explicitly with ED recovery.

You CAN do this. And you're WORTH IT! :)

Happy Living!Health Question & Answer

There are some great suggestions here. Most importantly, you do need to get support from somewhere in order to overcome these problems. These things can't be tackled alone. That would be the first step to a healthy and happier outlook on life. It will be a tough road, but you can do it.
Best of luck.Health Question & Answer

I am a recovering anorexic, I was doing the same, just opposite...
I thought people thought I was too thin, (or on drugs) or watched me eat.

I withdrew from everyone, broke down in tears, etc...
I found therapy, nutritional counsiling, and anti-depressants helped me,
you might look into some help!Health Question & Answer

It sounds like your feelings are getting in the way of your everyday life.
You are not going out. It might be a good idea to see a therapist. You are having so many painful thoughts and worries.
Try to remember that people most likely are not thinking about if your fat or not fat. They are busy with their own thoughts in their own little world. I hope you will be doing better soon. Best Wishes to you.Health Question & Answer

Being sad over something wont change a thing. u have to take actions to get what u want.

You think your fat, and said u can stand to lose a few pounds. so then diet, exercise, and do the healthy way and not be bulemic. u will look much better than u did at a thinner bulemic body life.

i think if you lost the weight in a healthy way u would feel alot more confident and get over this issue. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Health Question & Answer

You just need to set yourself up a routine. Start out by scheduling a daily walk, you can increase it to twice a day once you get more comfortable -this will help you in soo many ways! 1st off by getting out of the house, who cares what other people think of you, you have came to the 1st step by wanting to change and improve, this is great and a 2nd step by asking here for advice -when you go for these walks tell yourself no one cares what I look like, no one is going to stare at me and if they do I'll wave at them - I don't care if they do anyway and no one is going to make me feel uncomfortable but myself.

When negative thoughts enter cast them out, replace the thought by saying something nice to and about yourself, like I'm changing this and my negative outlook will not be stronger then my positive out look -be determined, get serious and get strong and stand up to yourself when this happens. Have self disapline. Only you can put an end to self destruction and you will if you really want to, it may be hard at first but once you do this and keep doing it, it will become habbit and easier for you and then you will be at ease with our self and others. After you've done this for a week or two then add something to your schedule like some ab cranches or sit ups, turn on some favorite music and dance while you clean house, this helpped me loss weight, the walks will alone but anything else added will help. As far as your eating disorder, you need to know and feel in your heart that this was a disorder of the past, set a healthy weight goal, limit that, stick to it and enjoy life, it is too short spending behinds doors avoiding your family and friends, life is to be lived and enjoyed and explored and to journey through not hindering and wallowing in it, not for cutting yourself down becoming more and more miserable, stop the behavior now, only you know what it takes, find the source, center within and become who you want to you have everything you need to if it is motivation you lack there are great motivation resorces on line I've found a few myself as well as on self esteem.Health Question & Answer

1. Stop looking in the mirror so often, set a limit.
2. Set a time limit for getting ready, ie, its 12:00, decide you will leave at 12:30. Even if you've got no shoes on, leave at 12:30.
3. Observe others and ask yourself, what does that person see when they are at home and look at themselves in the mirror.
Everyone has something they dont like, and more often than not they will be overly focussed on tha particular feature.
Have a look around and ask, what does he/she see in their reflection,
This can be interesting, and you will notice most people infact have something they dont like about their appearance, but this makes most people acceptingHealth Question & Answer
