Can anyone give me some feedback on antidepressants?!

Question: Can anyone give me some feedback on antidepressants.?
I have general anxiety problems along with depression. I started on Effexor, stayed on that for 5 yrs or so, then my dr. thought I should try Cymbalta. NOT good. Since then I have been on Zoloft (hated it), Paxil (makes me tired). I am currently on a Paxil-Wellbutrin combo. To be perfectly honest I don't feel that great. I felt better when I took Effexor than I ever have. I'm still not sure why my dr took me off it to begin with. Do any of you take these types of meds.? Can you tell me about your experience and what you find helpful.? ThanksHealth Question & Answer

Hey Girl,
I have been on Paxil for the last 10 yrs. I was diagnosed with Generalized anxiety disorder when I was 7 and im now 22. I totally can relate. Paxil actually did the trick for me, but then my doctor decided he was going to take me off paxil because he thought that I may have grown out of my problem! Stupid doctor!! The reason why he probably took you off is because the longer you are on the same anti depressant the less effect it is going to have on you! I was told within a year or so the Paxil probably would not have any effect on me because my body would become immune to it! Any how you need to tell your doctor that you are not feeling well on these meds and you would like to back on your Effexor, because it makes you like a normal person. I actually want to try effexor because I hear it works great for some, and ever since the doctor took me off my paxil I had to double my dose to make it work. also another thing I find to be helpful is talk therapy, not so much for them do tell you what you have but just for you to be able to release your feelings to someone who understands your mental illness. I know you don't know me but if you need someone to talk to I would be more than willing to talk with you. My email is on my profile, I hope this helps hun and good luck with finding yourself the right meds.Health Question & Answer

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over a year and a half, and it's working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too.Health Question & Answer

Welbutrin- useless
Paxil- terrible
Celexa- Horrifying, especially the withdrawls
Lamictal- A lifesaver!!!

Anyway, if you like your Effexor tell your doctor you want it back! Why change what's working.? Sounds like you need to find a new doctor if they just changed it on a whim. I hope you go to a psychiatrist who knows medications much better than a PCP.?Health Question & Answer

In some studies, people actually did better on placebos than antidepressants.Health Question & Answer
