Meditation is not a cure but it sure helps you take control of your anxiety.

There are hundred of easy methods and tons of guided help on the net. There are free pod casts of guided meditations all over the web.

It is a learned skill, simple but it does take a little time and practice.

To start use a breathing meditation. You watch your breath during this exercise, just see where your breath goes.
Sit comfortably, try to sit up straight because it is easier to breath that way.
Inhale for a silent count of 4
Hold for a silent count of 7
Exhale completely for a silent count of 8

Repeat at lest 4 times
You may find you mess up, that is OK just return to the breath.
As your mind starts to think of things just let that go and concentrate on the breath. You may have to let your thoughts go over and over, it gets easier and more relaxing with time.

Do this for 5 minutes 3 times a day for starters. You will enjoy and then move on to other methods to see what works for you,

Good luck

Hey,
I meditate all the time, it helps relax you and help you to get in touch with your emotions. One easy way to meditate is sit in the middle of a quite room, legs crossed arms down with your hands resting on your knees. First think of a quite place that you enjoy being, the beach, a library, camping, whatever makes you feel good. Keep that image in your mind and begin to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, concentrate now on your breathing, do this for about 10 to 15 minutes and I gaurentee you will be calm and relaxed enough to fall as sleep. Good night and sleep tight.Health Question & Answer

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.

But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....

I would seek an anxiety therapist. I don't want to be medicated. My therapist is helping me with ways of managing it. I think you can do without meds, they are so addicting. Go to your local vitamin store/homeopathic and get something there. Seek a professional who does relaxation and meditation. Yoga helps alot too!!!
