Answers:
If you already have a diagnosis, that's great. You're a lot better off than a lot of people who wander around wondering what's wrong with them and don't get a diagnosis until years of confusion.

But you still need to get a "second opinon".

If you are your own first doctor, let a psychiatrist be your second. Don't tell her or him your diagnosis. Just tell her/him all the symptoms. Tell her/him how you have been feeling.

These things aren't easy to diagnose sometimes.

It's really easy to tell your family that you have been having hallucinations, or whatever. And it's really easy to find a psychiatrist and talk to her/him.

The hard part is that psychiatry is such a complicated branch of medicine, that it is possible to make a misdiagnosis. Some doctors are better than others.

Go right into one and enjoy getting the attention you deserve.

But don't feel guilty if you feel you need to get a second opinion.

Or, in this case, a third opinion. : )

Say: 'mom, I think there's something affecting my behaviour and my schoolwork, and I would really like to see a psychologist about it, because I'm sure it will really help.' And then tell her why and what you think you're suffering from.Health Question & Answer
