I have suffered with depression and anxiety for most of my adult life. I tried a number of differerent medications until I found that seroxat was the most successful. I have used this medication on and off for many years. It's always worked very well for me and I am able to come off it okay when I'm feeling better. However, my depression and anxiety does return but sometimes I can go for many months or even up to two years before then it starts again. Seroxat has always helps me. I know that it doesn't agree with some people but it does work for me. I would suggest you try one of these medications that your doctor recommends and monitor your progress with regular appointments with your doctor. I had a bad experience when trying -one anti-depressant - I think it was Citolopram so be very aware of how you are feeling when starting your medication and discuss with your doctor if you feel anything untoward.Health Question & Answer

Hi,I am a mental health professional . Seroxat is one of the newer types of anti-depressant , also used for anxiety. The group of meds it belongs to have less side effects than the older types. All medications have side effects, which usually last about two weeks, then they subside. However everyone is different. Our body chemistry is individual to us. I know lots of people for who Seroxat was just right, , but for others it did not ssuitthem at all. The thing to do is to keep in touch with your doctor if you choose to take them and report any worries you have or any really unpleasant side effects. If they don't suit you he can try another kind, there are lots out there and one will be right for you. Look on the internet for Seroxat user websites, to get a good feel for it and make your own mind up. Don't be put off by scare stories from others. the side effects usually subside and the benefits of the meds can outweigh these. It depends how ddebilitatingyour depression/anxiety is.as to your final decision. If it is in response to a life event you may be better without drugs. CBT( cognitive behavioural therapy) can be as effective in mild- moderate depression, you can get this through a psychologist or CBT trained practitioner (again ask your GP). Hope things work out for you.Health Question & Answer

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over a year and a half, and it's working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too.Health Question & Answer

Every drug has its side effects, some people say don't take them, and I used to feel like that, then I become suicidal, and he took 6months to get back to normal, well Ive never been the same since it all happened,
But your mind needs these pills, take them, you know how you feel, dont let others talk you in or out of things.
You have to live with your pain, strain etc,
Most of the people who talk about not taking perscribed medication, are the people that usually smoke themselves to death,or are taking something to keep them high. So of they don't need perscribed medication. We can all take the easy way out,Health Question & Answer

Neither I would get out into the fresh air and get some excercise...this will release a chemical to your brain and with the exercise you will become tired so sleep better...medication is not always the answer. Lavendar is a great relaxant so give it a try it might help..........Health Question & Answer

I liked Lexapro when I took it.
Unfortunately I have bipolar and it just made me manic but it is GREAT for depression. In MY opinion that is.Health Question & Answer

Seroxat is purely an anxiety drug. I was prescribed them years ago after an episode of acute anxiety but I never took the drug. I read the side effects and was too anxious to take them!Health Question & Answer

Don't take Seroxat - it was investigated several times because it causes additional anxiety and suicidal urges. It should be banned.Health Question & Answer
