Would strattera be good for...?!

Question: Would strattera be good for....?
a person who has add, anxiety and depression.?

Please dont say ask your dr, I am going to do that- I ask on here because I would rather hear from people who have had experience with the medication! Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Strattera is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor indicated for the treatment of adhd. It is believed to work in part by increasing dopaminergic stimulation in the prefrontal cortex, which is, in part, mediated by noradrenergic reuptake. There are medications that block the reuptake of norepinephrine which are helpful for depression, but they often have other mechanisms of action as well that likely account at least in part for this effect. It seems unlikely that this medication would be specifically helpful for anxiety though it would not necessarily exacerbate the condition. Unfortunately in psychiatry we are not yet able to accurately predict what people's response to any given medication or treatment will be. . . might be helpful for some of your symptoms - that is if you tolerate the medication well. Some people have trouble c nausea on this med. . . Good luck.Health Question & Answer
