Is there a way to get a prescription from a private doctor/psychiatrist in the UK?!

Question: Is there a way to get a prescription from a private doctor/psychiatrist in the UK.?
Hi,
Basically, I've been told by a few people that I may have a mood disorder of some sort :/
Not extreme, but I do feel there's something a bit *off* (not enough to severely disrupt my life or make me suicidal, but I'm certainly "not right" at the moment).

I don't want to go to my doctor as anything on medical records can affect future employment and the chance of moving abroad, which I really want to do at some point.

I was wondering about the possibility of seeing a psychiatrist/doctor that could give me some help and if needs be, prescribe medication. (I'm not a big fan of medication but believe that if something is genuinely wrong then it can help).

However, if I saw somebody privately, would it be linked to my medical records.? I really don't want this and feel stuck- can't seem to get any better, but the downside of having my medical records affected outweighs the fact that I'm doing *ok*, just not functioning as optimally as I could.

Any advice.?

Answers:
In the UK such a referral would of necessity require a letter from your GP, assuming that he felt a secondary care referral was needed. An NHS referral would be unlikely unless the problem were severe and your GP felt unable to deal with it medically on his own. A private referral is less problematical.

In either case the secondary care physician would be obliged to write back to your GP with his findings and these letters would compulsorily be entered or scanned into your medical record.

Though your medical records are indeed confidential, most employers will want to apply, with your consent, to your GP for your medical history. He will generally send a full history to your future employer. You can refuse to give your consent, or ask your GP to exclude some information, but if he does, he must enter that fact in the report. Both of these activities are likely to reduce your chances of getting the job I am afraid.Health Question & Answer

You're not actually right about your medical records - they're confidential, and will never be revealed without your approval.Health Question & Answer

The answer I'm afraid is No. Write down how you feel for a few days then put it to one side for a couple of weeks then read what you've written. You should be able to spot what's wrong with your life so you might change it. A good idea would be to get a hobby which would be therapeutic for you.Health Question & Answer
