Why am I so freaked out of going to sleep.?.? I haven't had any bad experience with sleeping, but I'm afraid of it. As a result, I have not gotten a lot of sleep. Maybe 17 hours since Monday.Health Question & Answer

ok. theres not really enough there to go on..
usually when this happens, its because i am thinking to much when i'm trying to drop off to sleep...
relaxing yourself down to go to sleep involves the body switching off some of its motor controls [ this is a safety device] its to stop you thrashing about and hurting yourself in your sleep.. during the body's run down into sleeping you can get a floating feeling as you drift off.. somtimes its just as we enter rem sleep.. this is most likely to be the cause of you freaking out..
you need to understand that this is quite a normal thing that we all go through to get to sleep, and you need to trust yourself that the feeling is ok... keep this in mind as you doze off and eventually you will be ok.. it may take a few goes over a couple of days..
if you do take this to a doctor.. be carefull they dont prescribe a sleeping potion.. as this will only delay what you are going through and sleeping pills can be very habit formingHealth Question & Answer

It might be trauma, have you had any bad experiences lately.? It could be stress, as well.
I sometimes have the same problem as well, when I'm overtired, or ate and drank too much during the day.
You might try drinking a warm glass of milk to help you fall asleep, if that doesn't work you might try researching , or seeing your doctor,you couldhave sleeping disorde. But the most likely case is that your overtires, or worried and/ or scared of something

I believe that this is refered to as "Clinophobia". I used to have a simillar problem, but I took an unhealthy way out and just drank a lot of nyquil.

Don't do that, I would go see a doctor about it. That's my best bet.
