Answers:
It is NEVER a good idea to try to diagnose yourself for anything. BPD is a very serious and complex disorder and it shares many symptoms with other illnesses. Even professionals can misdiagnose it.
I have BPD and went around for more than ten years with various diagnoses, including schizophrenia, and depression. This is after numerous hospitalizations and numerous psychiatrists.
I don't think that I am crazy.
You need to see a professional ASAP.You cannot diagnose yourself, and you definitely cannot treat yourself. It will not go away, and you will not grow out of it. It is treatable but it takes a lot of time and hard work.

Yes. It is bad. It is just not as simple as recognizing the symptoms. For one thing, only a professional can truly distinguish between what are often similar but different symptoms. Second of all, many "symptoms" of a personality disorder are not detectable by mere observation. They have to be tested for. Thirdly, many disorders have similar symptoms, and it takes a professional to identify which symptoms are indicative of which illness. But most importantly of all: the treatment for personality disorders vary greatly from disorder to disorder, and the wrong treatment of the wrong disorder can be non-productive at best, and could potentially be fatal. You wouldn't ask your mom to do open-heart surgery on you unless she is a professional surgeon. Don't let her try to diagnose your mental illness. Get thee to a professional!

Good luck!

p.s. And like many wise people here point out: often depressions and "crazy" feelings are just part of growing up. Again, you'll never know without seeing a professional, but at least if you do then you'll know if it is just a part of life, or if you have a real illness to contend with!Health Question & Answer

You can be conscious of a mental disorder, and having Borderline Personality Disorder does not make you crazy. I have Borderline Personality Disorder (I did not diagnose myself) but I read up on it, and I agree completely. It's completely possible and valid. If you have or think you have Borderline Personality Disorder you should probably go talk to someone. It's really helped me. Good luck sweetie!Health Question & Answer

on the part about you can't be crazy(hate that term) if you are aware of it. don't bet on that. it's an old wife's tale. i knew that there was something wrong with me. with my mind i just didn't know what it was.as for as diagnosing yourself or having someone diagnose 6you that isn't trained to do so or has no type of background on mental illness please don't listen to them. even if they are your mom. there are very many mental illnesses out there that share a lot of symptoms that it really needs to be ddiagnosed by a professional. i hate those tests that say if you have this many symptoms then you could have this... they are dangerous. plpealse have your mother make an appointment for you with your regular doctor to make sure that there are no physical problems causing any symptoms that might look like mental problems first. if he/she says that you are fine then nget him/her to recommend a chbild psychiatrist for you. let this psychiatrist know everything that they ask of you, espcially why you came in to see them.? that is usually their first question. once you have answerned their questions theyc will ask you to make another one if they feel that anything is wrong. they might even give you an RX for med(s). they may or may not tell your mom what they think is going on but neither you or your mom should be surprised if they don't. they usually don't make a diagnosis right away. they will meds only if they find something or you told them about something that they found might be a problem and they don't want aHealth Question & Answer

First off love the avatar...paint a smile on it. :)
Secondly, I think consciousness is the first step to healing so to answer your question NO its not bad. Take the info and research ways to combat for your well-being. Make sure to heavily consider holistic as those methods keep us the most balanced as people as opposed to modern medicine.

Try to feel normal and fit in. If you see yourself as hopeless with a social disorder you will fall into the trap of medication to solve social problems and never get free again. It is good you have a wake up call but it could have been presented better.Health Question & Answer
