Question: I won't allow myself to be really happy, why is this.?
I never want to make a drastic change in my life or do something really out of routine because i'm scared of being let down/rejected/hurt. And it's crazy because I'm SICK of routine and I'm pretty unhappy at the moment anyway.
When I think of all the happy situations that I know would make me really happy, I just think of how it would never last. I think I would end up unhappier than I was to start with, because nothing lasts forever. I'd rather be unhappy with everything to gain rather than really happy with everything to lose.?

hi, Its a shame that you feel like you never want to change your life or step outside the "routine" but perhaps you should take a look at your life and analyse what exactly it is that makes you feel this way.? my guess is that you until now haven't really tried to change anything or do anything for reasons that you have not disclosed perhaps you live in a small town or even live in a very close family situation these two factors alone can lead too bordom. It seems to me that you have somehow brain washed yourself into this negative self procrastination, the answer to your problem is staring you right in the face I mean you asked a question that you already know the answer too ,all you have to do is make a decision its a 50/50 a no brainer, as for your happiness well Im afraid only you hold the key to that one, one things for certain though if you dont make a plan or grow some balls in life then your life will certainly change around you reguardless, by that I mean that peolple will start to think badly of you some perhaps will think you are a gutless wonder or worse still your own family members will start to think you are bone idle,Lazy or just plain pathetic....Life my freind will continuously throw curve balls at you and although you havent mentioned your age It will only get worse as you get older. If you maintain this train of thought then you are destined to chew yourself up and drive yourself into serious mental depression. The facts are that your life will not stay stagnent for very long anyhow even if you want it to, it cant because others will just end up rejecting, hurting and letting you down the very three things you fear the most.you need to put some excitment into life why not rise to some new challenges perhaps a new job to save some money then why not blow it all and go see the world, experiance different cultures and far away places , remove yourself from your duldrums and go check out other peoples lifes you may be very interested in what you learn about yourself, have you ever been to Morrocco, London, Rome, Paris explored the Greek islands or walked the wall of China.? these places dont just exhist inside the T.V you know and they are cheap cheap cheap go on leave that two bit dead end job, dye your hair blue and take to the road for a year or two learn how to bartend and your life will take you on its own voyage you will make so many freinds that they in themselves will change your life.... go on get out there make huge mistakes just the way you are ment too....experiance the hurt the pain the rejection once you have messed up a few times then you will be able to draw on your experiance and maybe hand on some knowledge to others.You and only you have the ability to change your cicumstance or your life all you have to do is make a decision and go for it.....if it turns out to be a wrong decision then thats fine I mean nobody is ever too hard on peolple as long as they have given it there best shot. You could change your life from this point on I mean tonight right now think positivly and you can chace any dream you want and if your not a success then so be it at least you will be able to look at yourself in the mirror without seeing a flake as a reflection. Consider reprograming your thinking with the decision that you intend to live your life as content and happy as possible for now on. You may need to etch new grooves in your neural pathway (thinking habits) since happiness requires habitual effort. It sounds to me that to stay as you are is just playing safe, its obvious you want to get out there but are scared of failing and going back to square one.

You need to have self believe in yourself to succeed in life. Its a false belief that you can gain by being unhappy. Take a chance on life you will never know until you try.

What you said made a lot of sense... But you should try living in the moment. I think we get disappointed and depressed when we focus too much on the future, or dwell too much on the past... Yes, you're right... Everything is impermanent, but that doesn't mean you have to be unhappy! Just try to focus on your blessings... There are just as many good things in this life as there are bad. It's all based on your perception.

So when you make a decision think of a decision that you would normally do and do the opposite.

that is a normal teenage personality. you know the reasons why you are not making your self happy. but in the other hand, it's you being negative thinker. maybe you don't enjoy what you are doing because nothing makes you to enjoy it or maybe you just hate what you are doing. how about balancing things.? do the routine and afterwards do the thing that you like to balance your emotion. find a way to increase your social interaction like texting friends while doing the routine or doing the routine with other people if possible. think about it, there are alot of people that are enjoying the routine that you are sad about because there are some factors that makes them happy like better social life, sports etc. honestly were just the same, i go to school and go home and that is it everyday. at home there is no one to talk to, even at school since i'm not white. so i just do the same routine again and again until i got seriously depressed until i stopped reviewing each not and do things that makes me happy, and i got addicted to it. you are right, rather be unhappy to gain something in our case. however, i think i'm too late with that. i have an exam tomorrow and i haven't studied yet because i had enough of doing the same routine again and again and i just did the things that make me feel better. stupid isn't it. damn. just keep up the good work and find something that will help your sadness ease. i suffered your situation for 1 year, maybe worst than what you are suffering right now. things maybe too late and some people may say that it's too late for me since i chose happiness and lose everything than being sad and gain everything. currently, i feel sad about what i did and i deeply regret it. however, that doesn't make me to just give up. now, i only have the last turn/one last move and hopefully it will cover my mistakes. i'm going to force my self to become determined in passing my exams and i know how to do that. if i succeed having that determination, things will turn the way i want even in the last moment. self-determination is very poweful but needs to be tempered with self-control, but the moment you got of out control of that determination, insanity will take over and will not let you rest until you have achieved the thing that you hunger to have. in that way, i might turn the unfavourable to favorable.

A Pessimistic state-of-mind, isn't healthy in any way, not only mentally... but it Holds back your physical body, from doing what you want, or need to do...

I'm sure nobody likes to be let down, But you've probably had rejection in the past, or have watched others be rejected... am i right.?....
Break out of that little shell of yours that you've been hiding in for so long, and be confident.. i know it seems impossible, but it's a matter of just going for it... Next time you really want to do something, and are hesitant, Just tell yourself.... "GO FOR IT"... Life is too short to wait for a reaction out of others... you've got to take action, before the world takes action on you.....

It may not last, but think about it this way.... At least you have it NOW... and at least you got to experience it, and if it goes away, know that you were satisfied with that point in your life... Try your best to keep that happiness... and if all else fails, you'll know that you tried.. and there are much more happy things that will more than likely happen in your life. it's not the end... It's just the end for that point in time of that joy, and it's time to make new happy times...

Dont think negitively, that's just another way of putting yourself down... it's not right... it hurts you, and if you hate being unhappy, when quit thinking negitively...
If you never had happiness in the first place dealing with that 'thing' that came and made you happy for that moment, and lose it.... You're actually losing nothing... How can you lose something you never had in the first place... Right.?..... at least it was thrilling in that moment...
