My doctor prescribed klonopin to treat my anxiety when I was going through depression. It's far less addictive than Xanax (a generic tranquilizer I was on prior to Klonopin), it lasted longer than Xanax does, and did not make me feel mentally sluggish at all. It made me feel like I had taken a long, relaxing soak in the tub, told my problems to go take a hike, or had just eaten some dark chocolate. It didn't make me sleepy or dull minded. I was able to take the medication and drive as well, once I knew how the medication affected me. There are side effects for all medications, prescriptions or over-the-counter meds. If you're still nervous about taking Klonopin take it on a day when you'll be hanging out at home and have a trusted friend/spouse with you to help evaluate any reactions - positive or negative - that you experience.

I am 47 and have been taking Klonopin for 17 years. When I start to get anxious I break a 1mg pill in half. It works. I just feel calm. You are just beginning it so your side effects may be stronger...like u might feel sleepy. Every night I take 1mg before I go to bed. I have been doing this for 17 years. Yes I have It is ok for anxiety. It is slightly addicting in a sense of ,if you take it for a while and then you stop you will get nausea and stomachache. you have to come of of them slow. they are not going to make you feel crazy or anything just a calm -normal. Health Question & Answer
