I was on xanax for my panic attacks, but I wanted to wean myself off because I knew I was getting addicted, I made the mistake of cutting cold turkey. I had a lot of pain in my jaw from not taking the xanax, but after a few days I was fine. I dont know how many your taking a day, but I was prescribed up to 3 a day, so just take whatever your prescrip says and cut in half, and slowly cut back more and more. I started taking Lexapro after that, and then didnt even need to take xanax anymore. Hope this helps :)Health Question & Answer

Three months is usually the 'cut off' for any type of anti-anxiety drug. I was on Ativan for 3 months, I don't have an addictive personality, and it was HARD for me to go without the pills for a few weeks after I stopped taking them.

Try some herbal products from a health food/drug place. There are many natural products that will help with anxiety, and my experience is that the staff in those places are a GREAT resource in helping you choose a product.

I would try to taper off on my own. When the DR cuts you off - that it!
Health Question & Answer

its obvious that you are addicted to it now. You must stop taking them now. You may spend some sleepless night (literally) but you should be able to come off it. good luckHealth Question & Answer

really you would have to discuss it with your GP, xHealth Question & Answer
