Recently diagnosed anorexic?!

Question: Recently diagnosed anorexic.?
I was just recently diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and am set for out-patient treatment. I am so scared that I will gain a surplus amount of weight and look like a cow if I stick with treatment. I am so unhappy with my body and just am scared that none of this therapy, or seeing a nutritionist will help. I just really have no self esteem and just am wonderding from others who also suffer from eating disorders is their any hope. Because I feel like I am hanging by a thread :(Health Question & Answer

It's understandable that you feel the way you do, and you are not alone. You would not feel the apprehension you are feeling about treatment if you were not seriously ill and in need of treatment. You need to stick with treatment no matter what. . . hang in there!!!Health Question & Answer

my best friend had anorexia and she was at a very scary place when she went into treatment-- she never wanted to be around her friends or go out anywhere because she was afraid of eating, her mind was constantly on counting calories, she was always cold and her hair had started to fall out. Any of this sound familiar.?

Now it's been a couple months and although it's been an upward battle, she is a way happier person. They don't just force you to gain weight without addressing the emotions behind them. And if they do try that in your treatment, go somewhere else.

Anyways, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope things work out.Health Question & Answer

It may seem that they r trying to make u fat, but they arent. u r underweight right now, and it is very unhealthy. u will not become fat by eating more. u will only be brought back to a NORMAL body weight. u wont be fat. if u r still worried, then exercise, but dont resort to not eating or to throwing up. this is EXTREMELY bad for u. eating and exercising with moderation will keep u at a good weight.

hope this helps...Health Question & Answer

The therapy will help. The therapy isn't about your anorexia exactly, it's more about your body image. It will help you understand that your body is beautiful no matter what. There is lots of hope. I know it's really hard for you right now but you will feel so much better after treatment.Health Question & Answer

You probably do not look good now. As in sick. You are probably a walking stick. They will help you become healthier and like what you see in the mirror.

*edit*
I don't mean you are like ugly. But you probably look way underweight. Hope you didn't take that the wrong way.Health Question & Answer
