Question: If I go down to A&E will they give me my antidepressant as I've run out.?
It's too late for me to get a prescription to get more today, I was on 150mg Venaflaxine, should I just sit through the withdrawl symptoms tonight and wait till the morning because I don't want to take up A&E's time.

My partner takes venlafaxine, and has said the withdrawl symptons are very hard to deal with. Are you getting electric shocks.? That's what he gets. If you do think you can get through the night, go for it. But it is very hard to cope, so instead go to the A&E and get an emergency prescription.Health Question & Answer
take it from me as someone on the other side of A&E, you wont get anything there.
Ring your GP now and tell them what has happened, they will say it's too late for a repeat prescription as it takes 24 hours and you may need to see a doctor. But stress the seriousness and get round to the surgery now. If they don't give you a full prescription, they can give you an emergency one to take to a chemist and they will give you a couple of tablets till tomorrow when you can make a GP apptin the morning and get it sorted.

If you have a community psychiatric nurse then you can speak to him/her and ask for more - A&E don't really like giving them out but can give you up to one weeks supply in an emergency situation, perhaps it's worth calling the hospital first and asking to speak to someone in the mental health unit getting the ok before you go.?.?Health Question & Answer
