oh, by the way
bring books to read, word searches to do, or an ipod to keep you busy. Health Question & Answer

First off good for you! The first step is admitting you have a problem. Now I know you dont want to go to rehab but I honestly think that it may be your only option. They can assist you in not only detox but overcoming the addiction. I know it's not an easy or fun thing but it may be the only thing that will save your life. Rehab can assist you during and after you leave. They have sponsers to continue helping you along the way after you leave. Remember that just because you have made mistakes that doesnt make you a bad person. I'm sure you have people who love and will support you every step of the way. Good Luck and way to go. It takes a strong person to stand up and say no. God Bless.Health Question & Answer

Its great you know you have a serious problem-the herione addiction. I think to end it you must go to rehab or therapy. I'm not an expert on drug issues so you may be able to quit on your own, if you have the will power to stop. But i think rehab or seeing a therapist could help you a lot better, cause they'll be there to support and motivate you into quitting. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

A physical addiction is gonna take more than just will. Talk to your close friends and family that can support you throughout your rehabilitation. Dont try to do this alone. Health Question & Answer

If there was something other than rehab that worked you would have heard of it. Oh wait scratch that. I did know a guy who kicked by taking a knife to a 7-11 and holding the clerk hostage. That guy, pete, had to go to rehab after he got out of jail to learn how to live sober. I am an addict too bud, so I know where you are coming from. But rehab is it.Health Question & Answer

Nope. Get yourself to a detox center or go to the hospital. Find yourself a decent rehab program to join. You might do ok in a half way house or under out patient treatment. But that alone rarely works. Most heroin addicts need to undergo not only intensive rehab but intensive therapy. And that will probably include both talk therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Let me tell you, its good that you recognize this as a problem now and it is absolutely critical you treat this problem now, rather than later. If you put it off for a day or a week it will quickly turn into a month then a year and so forth until you die, you go to the hospital or jail or whatever other dark paths your addiction could take you. Treat your sobriety with the utmost seriousness.

Rehab with the attitude that you really do want to quit is your best option. And another thing I can tell you is that at first detox will be the worst you'll crave it like nothing else. But after a month. Its not so bad anymore. You will notice a real difference. And if you go to a 90 day program by the end of it, assuming you really work at it, you'll totally be a different person then the addict you were before. Think of going to rehab as the first day of the rest of your life and you are in control of it. If you do not go to rehab you are letting the drug control you and it will eventually kill youHealth Question & Answer

Check game, I've been to lock up rehab and jail so I've been around, listen up here. Go to your doctor or a doctor. Tell 'em you're addicted to heroin and that you need help gettin off it. There is a prescription that doctors give for that drug. It is EXTREMELY addictive and the medical field knows this. People get sick off tryin to quit that stuff. In jail I had a friend that took a med (in jail, 100% legal) that was for heroin addicts. If you're serious about gettin off that s#!t then don't you dare get addicted to that med, it's a heroin substitute and you could catch a high off it.

If your doc tries to turn you in or you're scared that he might turn you in, your best defense is that you came to him so you could stop doin what is wrong. Chances are he won't but no promises.

A good thing for you to do is to join a NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS or N.A. class. These classes aren't like what you might think. They're like if you and your drug buddies got together and talked about the past when ya'll used to be addicted. As a requirment of my probation I've had to go to alcoholics anonymous and I can tell you this much. It's a bunch of grown men full of respect, non- judgement and real talk about real life of the way things are on and off the influence. These guys won't B.S. you and trust me you won't B.S. them, they've been there. Here you can find alot of good true advice from real addicts and even test my advice to you. Talk to the "vets" and follow their advice, they won't lead you wrong.Health Question & Answer

Wasn't there that musician that locked himself in a room from the outside and made his wife promise not to let him out for so many days and he screamed and begged and threatened and threw up and eventually came out a few days later and never touched the stuff again.?

Or was that a dream I had...

Anyways, to be honest I was addicted to a certain something intravenously, and I quit without going into rehab. I think God told me to stop right that second, and He knew I really wanted to better myself and was telling me that He loved me and would help me. Can't explain it really, but I understand... And I walked out right that second and haven't touched it since. In April it will be 8 years.

(but yes, it was hard for months after that, with withdrawals and such. It gets better)Health Question & Answer

Have you done any internet searches on heroine addiction.?

I was addicted to perscription Klonopin for 12 yrs. Then my pyschiatrist retired and the new one took me off of it after my 1st meeting with him.
It was hell. I did it alone.
I actually read that it was easier to kick heroine!

I remember reading about how John Lennon and Yoko Uno kicked heroine in three days, in the back of a volkswagon, going cross coutry to California.

You can do it, it's hard, but believe me, in a while, you will feel sooooo much better without that nasty drug in your body and brain.
It takes time, but it really gets better.
Free up, Live life,
Best to you! You can do it!

Drink lots of Herbal tea, like Sleepytime.
And drink lots of Poweraide, or Gatoraid, These two drinks got me though some massive withrawals.
Take care!Health Question & Answer
