For those who have recovered from depression...?!

Question: For those who have recovered from depression....?
I never thought I'd be in this space in my mind as it were, but now that I am not suffering from chronic depression and social phobia, I literally do not know how to function from day to day. I literally don't feel like I can comprehend how to schedule a day for myself of activities. I know this sounds retarded, but when one has spent their ENTIRE life depressed and anxious, and then has worked to a point that they are no longer plagued by those thoughts and feelings all day long, there is an unusual feeling of boredom and a feeling of being lost in life. If anyone else knows what I'm speaking of and has experienced it and worked through it, please share your insights, especially the first "baby steps" as it were. Thank you.Health Question & Answer

I recovered from depression 6 or so years ago. I found joy in changing my lifestyle habits - food and exercise habits, thought patterns, getting out in the sun, etc.

But I found an outlet of reaching out to others who also suffer from depression. I encouraged them and walked the road with them. I also have gotten involved in leading a kids' club.

So, basically I reached out of myself and started investing in the lives of others. When you 'pay it forward' you are blessed abundantly in return. I get so much joy now from helping others- always making sure I take care of myself with proper boundaries in place so others don't suck the life out of me.

I have also gathered healthy mentors around me to support me in areas of my life- parenting, marriage, job, etc.

We are not islands. We all need social support.

Blessings to you. Glad to hear you are on the journey toward joy!Health Question & Answer

Take it one day at the time, try to keep busy, find a job, even part time or voluntary in a charity shop.
Make time for yourself , do something you enjoy every day like go for a walk, read a book. Try to do some exercise.
You are blessed that you have come out at the other end, now the whole world is yours.
Love yourself and do not expect too much too soon and do not be to hard on yourself. Life is what you make it
You will get bored at times and feel a bit down but everybody feels like that at time, it is normal.
Take care
