Need some advice about dealing with bullies?!

Question: Need some advice about dealing with bullies.?
Ok this is kind of a bit of a rant, but I do genuinely need some advice.

The problem started 2 years ago when I split up with my ex. She ran off with one of the local Chavs (you know the type: pot head, living off sick benefits, hangs about outside the corner shop, etc..) As you would expect this was pretty devastating and was really hard to cope with. I was depressed for a long time because of it and to make it worse, my ex and her new boyfriend decide that they didn't want me around since he lived a few doors down the road.

To get me to leave the area, he and his friends took up harassing me in a big way (smashing my windows, attacking me in the street, general abuse, etc..) I had no where and no one to turn to so I simply had to weather the abuse. I should have kicked the $hit out of the guy to be honest, but having your partner of many years leave you for a sad little kid is pretty demasculating and adds intimidation into the factor.

The situation went on for about a year, getting less and less extreme as time went by. But as the intensity dropped the habitual routine the harrasment grew until it became common place with pretty much all the local wankers in the imidiate area. To put it in perspective, lots of the chavs in my area, while knowing nothing about me personally, do recognise me by the nickname "punchbag".

Anyway, at some point in that year I made friends with a guy who was good friends with the guy who my ex ran off with. He was alright to beggin with and went by the pretence that he was helping me out by talking to the guys who harrased me and telling them to leave me alone. It wasn't the case really, he just liked to sit on the fence and keep his options open.

Eventually his true nature began to come out and he began to take advantage of my underdog nature. He'd threaten me and steal from me and at time smash my house up. His reason for doing this was because his girlfriend, who was my friend before she'd met him, came around to mine whenever they had a row, as this guy could get pretty violent at times. He didn't like this one bit and so began to turn the violence she sturred in him against me, later to say. "do you see what that ***** makes me do".

The first few times this happened I forgave him, but it became more and more frequent until I couldn't take it any more and told both him and her never to come around again.

This had the effect of making the guy go back to his mate (the one who my ex ran off with) and stiring up the trouble all over again.

It's been over two years since this all started and it's still going on. I've tried to get the council to move me, but they won't. The police won't do anything either. I've tried looking for a new place to live (none council) but my options are limited due to my finacial situation - (I'm on the sick because I've develpoed Schizoid Personality from the crap I have to put up with from my fellow "humans")

What can I do.? Can anyone give me some advice.?

Thanks for reading - as you can proably guess, I'm feeling low at the moment and needed to excercise things from my head a bit.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have had similar problems as you with harassment and the police would do nothing. In fact they would accuse me of making it all up as to them I had to automatically be a liar as I have bipolar.

After 18 months of it,and my nerevs in ribbons,I bough a tiny little CCTV camera for
