I also suffer with an anxiety disorder. Panic attacks, headaches from continually clenching and grinding my teeth as well as poor sleep and mood swings. Sound familiar.?
After suffering a mental breakdown I started to see a psychiatrist and a psychologist who helped me understand why I had my disorder and were able to implement strategies to deal with it. I was prescribed Efexor XR which I still take religiously. It certainly hasn't stopped all the symptoms but it enables me to slow down and think more clearly when the anxiety comes on. When speaking to your doctor make sure they FULLY explain what to expect if they put you on medication. ie.symptoms etc. There is alot of medication out there and sometimes you need to try a few to find that one that works for you. Seek out a good psychologist who can help you figure out why you feel the way you do. There's also lots of support groups out there as well so you know you're not alone.
Along with the meds I found exercise a great release. For me, yoga, pilates and the gentler exercises were of no help as they still allowed my mind to think and stress. I found running and weight training to be the best - one where you really work up a sweat.
Make sure you start eating well, especially lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. I know it sounds obvious but it really helps.
Good for you for recognising that you need help and seeking it out. It won't be easy but you've taken the first step. I really hope you're back on the road to mental wellness very soon.Health Question & Answer

The doc will give you the tablets. I would suggest you try yoga. It helps me a great deal. Yoga teaches you breathing techniques, inner calm and just plain makes you feel better overall. I have been practicing it for two years now and know that it will be something I will continue for the rest of my life. I am a teacher and my job is very stressful and causes anxiety+ but I rarely use tablets anymore. I manage in a more natural way.

I wish you well,
