As I get older I get more and more lost at where I want to go in life?!

Question: As I get older I get more and more lost at where I want to go in life.?
I don't know what I want to do with my life. I'm 18 years old and recently graduated from high school feeling really lost. I'm losing interest in things I once liked. Now I have no idea what I want to do. I have no passions. The only thing I enjoy doing is smoking pot, but that has started to become a problem with my family. I spend my days sitting here just waiting for something big to happen in my life that will direct me in the path I want to go. So far nothing big has gone on and life is still dull. I realize I can't just keep sitting here smoking pot waiting for something to happen because it wont. The magic in life is starting to die for me. I need a passion but I can't seem to stay interested in anything. When I look back at it I've always been like this, I was never able to stick with anything and I never had something I was really interested in. I'm stuck in a rut at the moment and just looking for some help, if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to help find some passions in life, maybe what you did to get out there and find your passions, it would help me a lot thanks. Listen - your 18 you've spent the last 18 years being a kid, now your faced with being an adult and that's what it's all about for anyone transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
Some people inately know what it is they want to do and always have others look for it, others find it on the way and with others it finds them.

If you haven't got a 'cause' or a passion that drives you in live don't get hung up on it, things happen that may take you in a particular direction. It may be a chance meeting , a telly programme, a person you meet that you admire and that helps direct you.

At this stage of your life just lay off the pot, clean up and get out there and do some cherry picking, being young is brill, you just don't know it because your young.

I've done dozens of jobs and moved 30 times, I try new things all the time, travelled to different countries, seen amazing things, had money, had none, I never let people pigeon hole me and never do myself down, I read all the time and learn new things and share all the things I have learned along the way helping others when I can. My own passions are rescuing horses and painting so am a community art youth worker in my spare time and go and do projects with the local kids at the youth club. Messy noisy and fun with something at the end, everyone gets something and for kids these days that's a big thing.

So don't wait for life to knock on your door, it won't. Just go out and take part in it as it's all there waiting for you. Health Question & Answer

I sort of was in that position. Check out Russell Simmons book called "Do You".. It helped me focus alot on what I wanted out of my life.Health Question & Answer

I think if you lay off the pot, then your problems are solved.Health Question & Answer

First off you need to lay off the pot. I'm a pot smoker too but I'm not a pothead. It is a mild depressant and dulls your senses, that's why I smoke a bowl every 3 to 4 months. I'm bipolar and it mellows my manic cycles and calms me. You sound too calm so you don't need it. Then I would start by going to your local employment or community collage and most of them have a test you can take that will list what you would do well as for a career, it checks your interests and what your good at. Then file for a Pell Grant and Federal Stafford loans and go to collage. If that doesn't work then your still young enough to join Job Corp which puts you in a dorm with a bunch of other people your age and puts you to work with the forest service or even spend a year with the Peace Corp. Just don't waste your life being a drain on your family and society, get up and do something, anything, volunteer at the library or become a Candy Striper. Your still young enough to have options, don't waste them. Before you know it you'll be 40 and still living off others and trying to find yourself. Health Question & Answer
