Facing it is actually the only way to overcome it. You have to start by approaching it in an environment where you otherwise feel completely safe, and slowly increase your exposure.

Did you have a traumatic experience at some point that led to these specific fears.? Often it helps to first figure out what triggered them, sometimes it is something that seemed uneventful at the time, but later you may have realized it really upset you.

Start with some relaxation techniques. You can read about different types here, and try them out to see what helps you the most.

With gradual exposure, you start out slow, just as much as you feel you can handle. Set a period of time, say 5 minutes, and start by watching videos of jellyfish and tentacled things online (try youtube). As you watch them, remind yourself you are far away, and there's absolutely no way they can reach you where you are now. Practice relaxation which watching them.

Next, try some toys that look like the real thing. Get a friend you trust, and have them place the objects around you, after you've relaxed as much as possible.

Keep progressing with different ideas, such as visiting an aquarium or zoo to watch these animals in person. If you speak with someone that works there, they may even be willing to let you move on to touching them, once you are ready. Some aquariums will work with people that have phobias, so at least ask.

The same goes for the circles thing. Have a friend help you, and gradually increase your exposure to these things. When the anxiety sets in, give yourself a few minutes to try to relax, then approach it again. Don't back off completely because you start to feel anxious. A garlic press might be good exposure, you can press lots of normal things through it, and examine them before and after.

A professional may be able to help you the most, and if your anxiety is really bad, therapy and/or medication might be something to consider.Health Question & Answer

If I understand what you're saying, you mean that your phobia causes you to have panic attacks.?
I don't know if you're on any medications or go to therapy or anything like that, but I would reccomend talking to either your therapist or your primary care doctor about the panic attacks and possibly getting on some medication. If you can get the attacks under control then you'll be more likely to be able to face your phobia and get over it.

Now I'm curious as to what your phobias are! If you are daring you can try to face your phobias in 'small doses' or really short periods of time, that is how I face mine, sometimes it works, sometimes I scream like a little girl for someone to come kill the spider. If your phobias are really bad or you can't do small doses there are actual treatments that you can get, I don't know how much they cost though so you would have to look into it. Check out http://www.phobia-fear-release.com/treat... there are some treatments near the bottom of the page there.Health Question & Answer

Face it a little bit at a time, constantly telling yourself there's nothing to be afraid of. I used to be scared as heck to go to school. My psychiatrist told me to imagine going to school, what it looks like, feels like, and all that, while I'm at home where I'm comfortable. It desensitized me to the usual fear I experienced. Maybe you could do something like that.? So that when you're actually put in the situation, it's not so bad. This takes time, though, so don't do too much before you're ready.Health Question & Answer

If your phobia is affecting your day to day living, very gradually facing your phobia can help you deal with it. If your phobia is of something that you do not have to face in your daily living, avoiding the phobia seems reasonable. Good Luck.Health Question & Answer
