I'm depressed but therapists make me anxious and uncomfortable.?!

Question: I'm depressed but therapists make me anxious and uncomfortable..?
I'm 16.
I take medicine for depression but am still sad. It's not like overly serious or anything violent or dangerous. I am just kind of tired of life in general. I want to be an elementary school teacher and work with children and I just hate having to put up with all of school bullshit when I know what I want to do and where I want to be. I am mature for my age and don't have a lot of friends. I get good grades and am a nice person. I'm just really struggling to get through each day and I feel like I'm wasting the limited days of my life but I can't help it.Health Question & Answer

It can take a while to feel comfortable with a therapist. You have to have the right one. One who will make you feel comfortable and help you bond with him/her. When you are feeling uncomfortable and anxious after the first 3 or 4 visits it's time to try another one. also some bond with the opposite sex easier and have more trust and others bond with the same sex and feel the trust. It shouldn't be your fault if you continue to feel anxious and uncomfortable with your therapist because it is their job to help you relax if you can't then the therapist can't help you. Keep trying, there is a right one for you. I am sorry that you suffer from depression. It sounds as if you have lost your energy and obviously your interest in the things that you did enjoy. Maybe you need to talk to your mom or psychiatrist you may need a different antidepressant. Some will work for you and the same won't work for others. You take care!Health Question & Answer

If you are on medication for depression and still feel sad or depressed, talk with your doctor again. You mention wasting the "limited days" of your life. At 16, your life is only limited by the restrictions you place on yourself. Take your time, get your mental health back in order, and finish your education. Check into taking college courses during your senior year. Talk with your school counselor and your parents.Health Question & Answer
