Something...strange..?!

Question: Something...strange...?
well ive been reading this book for awhile now. [dreamland by sarah dessen], and it just recently started to get reallly really good. but im noticing something strange with the way its..um..affecting my life.
i know this may sound stupid, but please listen haha. ever since this book started to get amazingly good, ive noticed that im becoming really depressed and that im acting really strange. in this book, the main character is becoming depressed because her boyfriend abuses her and shes gotten into drugs. i feel like im getting so absorbed in the book, that after i put it down, i feel like im somehow living her life. im not doing any drugs and my boyfriend isnt abusing me, lol, but i feel depressed and sad kind of. i know it has to be because of this book because nothing in my real life has happened that would cause me to feel this way. i have an amazing boyfriend, but lately, i have been doubting our relationship and i feel like im going to mess things up, even though everything is going really really well. i think he noticed this change in my behavior too, but idk. i feel like im just in the character's world, even though that sounds completely ridiculous.
has anyone ever experienced this before.? how do i get out of this character state and get to be myself again.? im even scared to read the remaining 20 or so pages of the book because i want to stop feeling this way. but the weird thing is that its a very good book and i just dont want to put it down.
ive also noticed that even after i watch movies, i feel like im living their life. so i guess its not just with books.

help.?
haha thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

It isn't anything to worry about. Studies have shown that when someone reads a book or watches a good movie for the first time, they often think about the book and feel the same way as a character. It just means that you are enjoying the book. No worries! Health Question & Answer

That reminds me of a metal disorder people have where they drive far away and them they change their name and personality based on the place they went (mexico = latino) and they completely forget who they were.

I reminded me of this because maybe you could be falling into the book thinking that you're the person in it subconsiously, causing you to feel their pain. It's like your driving into the book.Health Question & Answer

I agree with Gabe. It just means that the writer did a great job. Once you are finished with the book if you continue to have trouble going back to living your own life then maybe you should go see a dr.
Most probably you just feel a connection with the main character and you are reacting to her "situation" as if she is a friend.

That happened to me when i read twilight
just finish the book and never pick it up again. it'll wear down.

Oh and do yourself a huge favor and try very very hard not to get into any deep discusions with anyone for a while. You might do something stupid.
This is some kind of disorder where you are deeply affected by other peoples emotions. Don't worry though, its like adhd, lots of people have it, they just dont know.

There is no known medication for this so just try to think positive for a while.Health Question & Answer
