Ok, I'm a student and have tons of homework. Even though I know I have papers due, I still procrastinate. I go on facebook, AIM, and play silly online games. I can't help it. I really need to stop. Everytime I know I have to finish but I still get distracted and the whole time I'm procrastianting, there's a part of me that's stressed. Like right now! I have an essay but I was so bored I actually started answering people's questions on here. =[ Please tell me ways to stay focused.

I find that if you are forced to do it, it makes it easier. Like by disconnecting your internet so you can't go on this answers thing. also if you are grounded and can't do anything anyway. But, I know how you feel, and can be laying on my bed doing nothing, and feel that it's more interesting than doing work. But if you aren't able to get to your distractions, you will be less likely to be distracted. And the whole reward yourself for doing good, ha ha, I try that, but I just end up rewarding myself without actually doing what I was gonna set out to do, end up doing that for too long and never going back to work. Just disconnect yourself from your biggest distractions.Health Question & Answer

I usually procrastinate when I have less work to do...something to do with the fact that it seems like I have a lot of time. Then I realize that I don't, at least not as much as I imagined.

I stopped procrastinating because I got obsessed with finishing work early - the faster I finished the more free time I would have at night. You could also try engrossing yourself into your homework, forget about everything and think just work, work, work. Another thing you could do is do homework at school (not the day it's due), since you have less distractions and most of the time there's nothing better to do, unless you mess around with your friendsHealth Question & Answer

Honestly,
face it you are going to procrastinate no matter what .
buuut
when you get home JUST DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK no matter what
dont say that you are going to do it before you go to bed because you are just going to keep putting it off
and the next thing you know its the next day

get home from school
go to your DESK or THE TABLE or something without any games or phones or computers and set out all of your homework and JUST DO IT
if you are hungry go get a snack or something to drink but dont SIT and make a sandwhich
in fact,
set out the food you might want to eat before you start your homework
make sure its within 20 - 30 minutes after being home before you actually start on your homework
it should only take an HOUR to study
which gives you the rest of the day to go and do the things you want without having to worry about homework. Health Question & Answer

I struggle with the same thing, but I have two things that have helped me:

1) Try changing your venue:
-go to the library
-go to a cafe

2) Find a p/t job or get involved in an extracurricular activity b/c sometimes we have too much time on our hands. I work and volunteer while going to school, so I don't have as much down time to get as distracted with stuff.

Good luck!

Maybe you need the assistance of the world famous psychologist, Dr Shiva Patil. She really helps. She can allow you to unleash your shivamatitis senses, which allow you to clear your mind of exterior thoughts, and it utilises your shivarays. It helps a lot.
She only speaks french, so it may be a problem... hmm... didn't think about that...Health Question & Answer

There are 4 pages on procrastination, in section 26, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and the following is an extract: "We tend to view tasks in their entirety, making them appear huge. I find that it helps to break it down into readily achievable stages, and promise myself a small reward, on the completion of each, and a bigger one, once finalised. Another tactic is to promise yourself that you will make a start, and just do 5, or 10 minutes. If, at the end of that time, you feel like continuing, do so.

Otherwise, take a short break, and come back to it, later. It's making the start, that's often the hardest part, and once that is done, everything else often just seems to fall into place, possibly because your unconscious mind is using parallel procession, and continuing to consider it, during the breaks. Set a timer, or alarm, to remind you when your next break is due, and don't put it off for too long. To do otherwise is to create a disincentive to returning to the task.

Folders, shelves, and boxes, clearly labelled, and assigning a place for everything, then getting into the habit (it takes 30 - 40 repetitions to establish a habit, for most people) of putting things in their respective places will make it much easier, in the long term, and help you in other ways, as well (having places for your keys, credit cards, wallet/purse, cellular mobile phone, P.D.A., etc., so you never misplace them). Colour coding can sometimes be of additional benefit in quickly locating something. The benefits will carry over into other areas of your life, too, such as work."
