Can cutting become a real and serious addiction?!

Question: Can cutting become a real and serious addiction.?
At first I was in denial about that, then said, "oh! maybe it is". Well, lately I feel like even if I wanted to stop...I can't. So I was wondering will it ever just go away...or do I need therapy.? OR Once I get therapy for my other problems (bad anxiety and depression)...will it go away when things get better.?Health Question & Answer

Of course it can be an addiction, Madison!

I'm really very shocked and sad to hear this you are awesome and it hurts me to know that you are doing that to yourself.
Things get better when your mind is clearer. You are doing this for some mental reason (I don't mean crazy... just something in your head) that is telling your body that you need to cut.
I really suggest and hope that you find a way to release your anger and emotions in a new (positive) way.
Listen to more music, pick up hobbies, read books, kick box... etc.

Because trust me, I've been at the lowest of lows and I understand.
Take care MadisonHealth Question & Answer

cutting just one time isnt a good thing to do, it doesnt solve anything and it making anyone feel better is all in one's head.

i had a few friends in highschool that stopped cutting but i had one that went to a psych ward for help too.

you should really get help with it from someone who is qualified to help you, but if you dont just remember things wont always be bad and hurting yourself doesnt solve anything thats just looking at the problem and not the solution.

EDIT: i forgot to put in that i hope you feel better :) i hate to see anyone hurting. my uncle killed himself when i was little so when people are doing things like cutting or they have suicidal thoughts it touches me personally.Health Question & Answer

its really addicting, i sometimes dream of cutting myself... :P if you have a strong ambition to stop and find different coping methods, you could do it on your own possibly. therapy would help with your other problems, possibly lessening the urge to cut.Health Question & Answer

yes!! cutting can be very addictive!

the urge can go away without therapy but most likely something will trigger it and bring it back. talking to a therapist will help reverse your feelings and help you respond to things differently than by cutting.

By cutting, you're indulging your emotions. Emotions are your enemy, because they "make " you do things and say things that you're sorry for. You need to learn to substitute something else for cutting. Maybe working out . Exercises. Then instead of scars, you'll get a great figure, and muscles.

Here is my stock answer on anxiety, and depression and nutrition. I healed myself after being devistated over a hurt child, and going crazy hyper, then anorexic, and being hospitilized. Most mental illness is toxin or nutrition caused.

I think that your metabolism is off. I'm guessing that you don't eat a lot of fresh vegetables, nuts, and fish and eggs.

There is a safe, anti anxiety tonic drops, that you can get at
www.naturessunshine.com It's called " Distress Remedy" and it's tintcures of flowers. That will help when you're having an attack.

But to get the problem to STOP you need to get your minerals and omega oils balanced in your body, and that will help balance your hormones.

Just like when someone gets drunk, they act funny , or mooshy, or slur their words etc.... because they have too much alcohol in their body... If you're low on Omega 3s, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Co-Q-10, and minerals especially Chromium and Vanadium and other trace minerals...Your brain just won't work right. You can have mood swings, or anxiety.

A great source of nutrition for those who don't always eat right is Monavie Juice. Super antioxidents, enzymes, and trace minerals.
Or Noni Juice, that helps our body actually make serotonin the hormone that gives you the "runners high" and lifts your mood like exercise.

Take 1000-2000 mg of Vitamin D a day, Take Flax Seed oil capsules for the Omega 3's, eat eggs for breakfast, get yourself a good all minerals suppliment with all the trace minerals, eat Cashew nuts (they remove fear and panic ) and study up on nutrition and emotions and mental health.

It's your body, and doctors won't heal you naturally. You're better off with a naturalist than with doctors wanting to stick you full of medicines, and have you talk about your problems forever... They just treat the symptoms. You need to cure the inbalances.Health Question & Answer
