Sick of the weight gain?!

Question: Sick of the weight gain.?
I have been on Lexapro and Seroquel for 6 months. I have gained 25 lbs, and I am just so tikked off and feel so helpless and hopeless about it. I have never, ever had a problem with weight- never. But I was put on these and boom. I even stopped the Lexapro cold turkey a week ago, and I am fine. I really want to stay with Seroquel it's the only damn thing that helps me sleep.
Will I have to totally stop Serquel too.? I see my pychiartst 1time, every 3 months, and will see him in a week.
I heard Ambilify is a weight neutral drug. But will is help me sleep like the Seroquel.?
What would you suggest.?

The whole reason I was put on these drugs was because I got a new Pychiatrist when my old one retired and he took me off Klonopin, and I was on it for 12 yrs. I went though living hell getting off it, and began to have panic- bad panic attacks out of nowhere, while I was driving and just sitting at my desk at home, in front of the computer. This is why I was put on these things. to brighten my mood and stop the anxiety.Health Question & Answer

It's interesting that several hours ago I wrote another Yahoo Answer about Seroquel. Lexapro is one of the few antidepressants I have not tried. However, I did take Seroquel for a few months but had to stop because of the side effects. In 2 months, I put on 20 pounds! Plus my hips started to get stiff, and just walking down the street became difficult. Finally, my feet and ankles swelled up (edema).

Maybe we are long-lost cousins. My new shrink did not like the fact that I had taken klonopin for so long, so he put me on Seroquel !! I am not sure about Lexapro, but Seroquel is known for putting on weight.

About 3 months ago, I started Abilify and, knock on wood, it has really worked very well for me. As you probably know, people can react very differently to psych meds, but I think you should give it a try. I just read that Abilify can increase weight in less than 7 percent of people---but nothing like Seroquel. However, Abilify will probably not make you drowsy.

If your shrink doesn't want to give you Klonopin, you might be able to get a shorter-acting benzodiazepine, like Ativan or Xanax. If your shrink is really set against benzos, you can probably get ambien, sonata, or lunesta. These are non-benzo sleeping pills. If sleep is a big problem for you, go for 3 mg of Lunesta. A lot of nights I take Lunesta myself. If you have any questions, drop me an email.Health Question & Answer

I think it's natural that they relax you and at the same time slow down your metabolism. Look in to the Amblify and see if maybe that will work for you. I don't see why you can't request the previous cocktail of meds you were on that seemed to work just fine for you and at the same time keep your weight where you want it.? I was on Paxil at one time for anxiety and that never made me gain weight. Anyhow good luck.Health Question & Answer
