I have a career in mind, in my heart, and soul. If this does not work out. It will indeed, be the end of me. So much bad has happened. So much heartbreak. I want this more than anything and I am so scared to go after it. How do I fight that fear.?.?Health Question & Answer

It can be daunting to choose a career, especially one that's difficult to get into. The fact is though, that usually the best jobs out there are the hardest to get. If they weren't, everyone would play in the NHL.
I think that you have to decide how badly you want to this career. If you have your heart really set on it, then don't worry about failing. Don't pay attention to people who say that you won't make it or that it's to hard. If it's something that you really want, then find a way to make it happen. There is a saying that I like that goes something like:
"There are two keys to success in just about anything, hard work and talent. Nobody knows how much talent they have, so work as hard as you can and find out. In other words, just go for it."
Personally, I like looking at a really difficult challenge. It makes me want to win or achieve even more. Here's an example: If every team in the NHL said at the beginning of the season 'oh, Detroit's going to win the Stanley Cup', then what would be the point of trying at all. I can't stress enough that it doesn't matter what the odds are. Believe in your own ability to do great things.
That doesn't mean there won't be setbacks. But when they come, have the courage to get back up and keep fighting. Don't quit on yourself Madison.
I'm in kind of a similar situation. I'm 19 and I'm heading into the tail-end of my second year of university. I really want to be, believe it or not, a surgeon. I know that it's an extremely difficult job to get, but I'm not going to let that stop me. It's what I really want to do, and I'm going to do it.
By the way, what is this career that you want to do. Don't be embarrassed or anything. I just told you that I want to be a spinal surgeon, so not a lot will shock me.Health Question & Answer

i think youare scared because of stuff that has happened in the past but that has no bearing on the present or future unless you let it. you have to break the cycle of things going wrong for you and go after your dream...good luck, i wish you everything you wish for yourself. someone once said 'feel the fear and do it anyway'...thats real courageHealth Question & Answer
