Will Omega 3 fish oil help with depression?!

Question: Will Omega 3 fish oil help with depression.?
I don't have major suicidal depression or anything, but sometimes I feel hopeless and blue and really, really low and isolated. I have had problems with anxiety before but pretty much have that under control, and now I have a bit of depression.

I think I have the depression because I am facing some major life changes and that causes stress which causes depression. My doctor put me on Celexa just to help me get through this rough patch and I have been on it for two days, but since it could take awhile to kick in I wanted to try something else.

I heard that Omega 3 fish oil helps with stress and depression... does it work.? And is it okay to take with Celexa.?Health Question & Answer

Yes it is ok to take Celexa and you can also take passiflora and saint johns wartsHealth Question & Answer

Apparently, research is quite inconclusive on this. However, if you don't eat much fish, taking Omega 3 supplements is a good idea anyways, and it certainly doesn't hurt to try.

Personally, I had good benefits from drinking chamomile tea a few times a day when I waited for my SSRI medication to start working. It eases the stress that you might be feeling.Health Question & Answer

Yes they help with mental alertness, heart health, joint health, fat burning ability, and it also improves your fitness ability. Take omega 3s if you don't eat allot of fish especially, I take 1-2 a day and they really help with depression ;)Health Question & Answer

Omega 3 is good for brain health.Depression is mostly caused by external factorsHealth Question & Answer

if the doctor says so, if not, get mad at him/her.Health Question & Answer

It won't really help much, but it won't hurt.
That's because your moods are controlled by three things:
serotonin (which Celexa increases)
PLUS
endorphins and a balanced blood sugar.
The reason you don't feel good yet is because drugs (and vitamins) don't address the endorphins or blood sugar issues.
