Is there such a thing as having a phobia of going to sleep?!

Question: Is there such a thing as having a phobia of going to sleep.?
Okay, i'm someone that for some reason DOES NOT LIKE TO SLEEP, not because I don't want to get my rest but because somehow I fear it, if I KNEW that EVERYTIME I would go to sleep I would have a dream I would be more comfortable with it, but you know sometimes when you sleep you don't have dreams.? that is what really scares me and I wake up uncomfortable because I hate that feeling, even if I TRY to stay awake all night I can't, my eyes get too heavy that I just doze off, but what I hate is when I sleep and don't see anything or feel anything I just hate it, that's what I fear because it's such a long time of being inactive, is it just me.? or is that a phobia.? because I really don't like to sleep because of that feelingHealth Question & Answer

Yes absoloutely possible to have a fear of sleeping, my very good friend has PTSD and had a fear of being put under, for an operation. When she had her op, this experience left her with a fear of falling asleep. She sleep only because her meds for depression and pain (for her jaw which was operated on) knock her out. She sleeps in the day mostly and stays awake all night.
I have a fear of my nightmares and dreams i have. they never stop and i wake up confused about whats real and whats not. Its not good to have dreams all night everynight believe me, i find it tiring and confusing. I can tell whats really happened.
You always dream anyway, its just sometimes you remember your dreams and sometimes you dont. You dream every night regardless!!!
So just know you dream, you just might not remember dreaming every single time. Usually you dream a few dreams, but you prob only remember one when you do remember. So you have nothing to worry about. You dream all the time. writing down dreams when you wake up straight away might help you begin to remember more..Health Question & Answer

Sounds a bit like OCD.

However, yes, you can have a phobia of sleep. You can have a phobia of anything. You can have a phobia of pop cans or oranges. Just as long as you have an intense, irrational fear of something, you have a phobia.Health Question & Answer

yes it is a very common fear actually because all fears in the human mind are linked to the fear of dying. All humans have a fear of dying, it's called the death drive. Those who fear sleeping are really unconsciously exercising their fear of never waking up, being buried alive while they are sleeping, stuff like that.Health Question & Answer

Yes there is a medically recognised fear of sleeping. It is known as Somniphobia and it sounds like you could have it.

Since I don't know very much about this phobia i'd like to direct you t this website for more information.
