Am I Depressed? Help!?!

Question: Am I Depressed.? Help!.?
I feel so down all time, I can't remember the last time I had energy I am only 18 so this doesn't feel right. My partner is always suggesting days out but I'm never up for it and stay in bed all day instead. I actually hardly see any of the day as I sleep through and am then awake all night. I feel really touchy all the time and find myself snapping at people over silly things. Please don't say this is because I'm young or because of my periods because I'm feeling like it is a little more than that.Health Question & Answer

These are definitely symptoms of depression. However it's not necessarily serious depression, because all of the symptoms you mentioned are 100% symptoms of oversleeping. Try to sleep less (no more than 8 hours) for a few days, I bet you'll snap right out of most of it, if you're still feeling that way after a week of 8 hour nights, go see a psychologist/counselor/etc. immediately.Health Question & Answer

Ask yourself when did this start. True depression is where you cannot even move or you eat all the time or cannot eat. If you have suicidal thoughts it is time to call a doctor for life is mostly good and will change. Writing out why you may feel down helps. Certain people's brains do not make enough serotonin so they have depression. It may be hormonal. Certain foods and sunshine help. Dark chocolate in small amounts and walnuts are good for this. Turkey has certain chemicals in it that help sadness, but will make you sleepy. Sleeping alot is not normal. Make yourself get out and walk for this stimulates the brain to produce good chemicals. Alcoholic drinks contain ethanol which is a depressant.Health Question & Answer
