I think that happens because of suppressing emotions back during various times of challenge or trauma. When we're "in the moment", we don't want to show reaction, or want to hide our true feelings (a survival skill). This works as an immediate response for those situations, but over time becomes something buried that still wants to breath, so when it can raise its head, it gets ugly, we act in uncontrollable ways, emotionally (cry, stutter, shake, whatever...).
I use a family counselor to discuss and deal with that stuff - it really works. Having someone to talk to about my past (which gave me the depression I was fighting) helped because my listener is knowledgeable about human psychology, relationships, all that good stuff.
I don't get emotional (cry, upset stomach) any more when I refer to past times because the counseling allowed me to 'deconstruct' the behavior I had and reconstruct how I want to be.
It's like homework for yourself, and very productive (helpful, it worked).
Very best wishes to you,Health Question & Answer

Obviously it was a huge emotional time for you, and an emotional overload for you to try and contain.

Are you seeing any sort of councillor or therapist.? You should try and talk first with them about it, it can help to get the words out to someone else first...like a warm up. Then you can talk to people close to you.
It is good that you took time to recognize that something was amis and are taking steps to deal with it. That is an important step to feeling better.
Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Depression is a serious illness. I know I have been battling it for at least 16 years. For me it gets worse at certain times of the year. If this is the first time you are able to open up about it to someone than you will find different emotions each time or maybe even the same one. Depression can act like the grieving process. Denial, anger, and many more. I would say to find a support group weather it be an online group or a face to face. But don'tt be afraid to cry.Health Question & Answer

All painful experiences take time to handle, but it will keep becoming less painful. Why don't you write in a journal so you don't have to talk and your girl friend can read what you felt. This isn't exactly the same, but the idea may work for you. Whenever I watched Allie run cross country, I would get so anxious and wanted to make bargains with God, so what I finally did was instead of asking to let her win, I would mentally go through all of the things that I was grateful for. Maybe it will work for you. It's worth a try. Good luck and congratulations for getting better.Health Question & Answer

you do this because it was a big part of your life, something you never wished would happen, and its probably like a nightmare to you now. and you don't like talking about it anymore as your scared of how they'll react plus you just want to forget about itHealth Question & Answer
