Question: I was recently told that depression effects a person's metabolism, that depression can slow down a person's...?
metabolism and cause them to gain weight, even if they eat sensibly and exercise. Is this true.? Why.?Health Question & Answer

Hi Wutz, Indeed it does slow down your metabolism. I myself have been dealing with this for most of this year. You'll have a lack of motivation, so less activity will in most people cause them to gain. Others like Iansbabe, may not have the desire to even eat anything. What is strange is if we're exercising and eating rite, it seems we should be able to at least maintain our weight. This shows that it does affect in many different ways. I've been trying to maintain, without seeing a Dr or meds! It's not easy though!
