Sleeping way too much and always tired.?!

Question: Sleeping way too much and always tired..?
For the past I don't know 6 months or so I've been sleeping a lot. Waking up in the morning is extremely hard for me and when I get home from school I like to take a good 2 or 3 hour nap.. then I'm up for about 3 hours and I go back to bed.
Lately I've been sleeping a lot more, I woke up today at around noon and went back to bed at about 2 and woke up after 6 and within a half hour I could take another nap and I always have sleeping on my mind.
I suffer from depression, I'm already in therapy and I just started Prozac about 2 weeks ago. Would the medication make me sleep more.?
I don't know what to do anymore, I'm sick of always being tired ( I know its not mono by the way)
Can anyone help me figure this out.?
Thank you.Health Question & Answer

I wish I could say your name ... I also have the same problems you have . depression seems to be a lot of our problems . Try treating your life like it was your last day on earth , jump , laugh , smile , greet people, and they will smile back at you . I know what it feels like to be so tired , you can't get your normal everyday work done......then the cycle starts again because you are behind on your duties . If your doctor said you are healthy " blood count " then Iron is only going to hurt your stomach as in a stomach ache .
My depression makes me want to sleep , and hide from the world . I have a wonderful b/f that makes me want to change , he seems to understand .
I do not believe in drugs like Prozac, I should not say that , because maybe it will work for you .
Honestly I think if we both change our life style , ... I mean change in the way of doing a different routine , it will help .
I just started my depression 4 months ago. and I had to dig out of that deep dark hole of depression. If I can do it .......YOU can do it .... We are strong women ..Health Question & Answer

It seems you have a sleeping disorder like narcolepsy and/or sleeping sickness. But you would need to consult a doctor to confirm if you have these conditions or something different.Prozac is an anti depressant which helps a patient deal with depression. It is possible for it to make you drowsy but certainly not what you have described. Why don't you go to see a doctor in a clinic for a proper evaluation and diagnosis. the proper treatment will follow that evaluation. Do not delay getting the help that you so truly need. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.Health Question & Answer

Firstly, see http://www.collectivewizdom.com/AdrenalF... *
Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily. They should be certified as being free of mercury, and if containing vitamin E, it should be shown as from a natural source; otherwise it is synthetic: avoid it! Consume with an orange, grapefruit, or their freshly squeezed juice, or another good antioxidant. Consider taking a 100% natural vitamin B complex, daily.

Drink 2 - 4 cups of green tea, daily: preferably honey/lemon ginseng, from Celestial Seasonings: supermarket tea, or health food aisles. As with all herbal/green teas, use lemon/lime, and/or a little sweetener (NOT ARTIFICIAL!!!) but no cream, or milk. Exercise daily.

Xylitol is preferable, (health food stores) or fruit sugar (fructose, such as "Fruisana", from supermarket sugar aisles) or even a little honey, because these will reduce "sugar spikes", which later deplete you of energy. Ginseng reputedly boost energy levels. Ginseng: Panax Ginseng (Chinese/Korean/Japanese), panax quinquefolius (American) Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian)). It is also known as man root, life root and heal all.

Have a high protein breakfast of fish, or scrambled eggs and possibly bacon (these provide a lasting energy boost: no carbohydrates for 2 hrs, or extremely little. I note with interest that the most recent Olympic decathlon gold medalist had scrambled eggs for breakfast. Eat in accordance with your "nutritional type":- enter that term in the searchbar at http://www.mercola.com/ also "vitamin B12". View: Are You a Tired Female.? Minimise/eliminate consumption of highly processed foods, particularly grain products, such as white bread, donuts, cake, cookies/biscuits, or anything with sugar. Opt for more wholefoods, non-starchy vegetables (especially broccoli, and spinach, with lemon, or vinegar), and fruit.

Have a medical checkup, (thyroid function, adrenals*, etc.) including blood tests, for low iron levels, blood sugar levels, etc. Many people in Western countries are lacking in minerals, such as zinc, magnesium, and calcium, so it is a good idea to have those levels checked as well. If the above doesn't pinpoint the cause, or help, another possibility is that you may be developing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I'd avoid daytime sleeping, unless, or until professional advice is received to the contrary. Shower, or splash cold water on your face, to revive you, and if the ambient temperature is too high, it can make you sleepy. Depression is addressed in section 2, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris See page R first, then young women's depression, page V - WOMEN TO WOMEN, and teen depression, S.A.D., and eventually the rest of section 2. Get up and into the morning light for at least 30 mns, to regulate your melatonin production, and reset your "body clock".Health Question & Answer
