I've consider this since watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but came to the conclusion that no matter what I'd forgotten I'd still notice my life is crap, that I have no job, no money, no friends, and I'd probably spend my new found freedom desperately trying to fix whatever I did to end up like this!
But luckily guilt can easily be understood, if only someone would have just told you guilt is anger turned inwards when you were a child and the only way to assuage guilt is to first admit you're partially to blame (forget about being the victim) for whatever crap was done to you, that you were naive, ignorant, weak, foolish or whatever, and then forgive yourself for being human, because human beings are not perfect, no one's perfect and no one expects you to be perfect, but as long as you're making an effort to do better, to try harder, then you're a good person right now despite your mistakes.Health Question & Answer

One has to question an induced amnesia and the reasoning to even consider it as an option, firstly.
Secondly, the amnesia would have to be total in relevence to the cause of the event. If it was partial it wouldn't be effective.
