Athritis of the spine, crumbled disk?!

Question: Athritis of the spine, crumbled disk.?
... that's what my mother was diagnosed with yesterday after three months of agony. She has been advised to give up work (she is a cleaner at a nursing home) and told that she will always be in this pain. I'm wondering if anyone has anything to offer. She's a young 50 year old and I cannot sleep because I am worried about her.

Is there anything that could be done to help.? Should she stay in bed forever.? what is the best painkiller.? will it ever get better.? Will she be entitled to any benefits.? HOW CAN I HELP.?.?

I have a million and one questions. We live in Wales in UK and she has been seeing a chiropractitioner for a while now. It's costing

You probably won't agree with me, but it is the truth that marijuana actually does help with the pain arthritis causes. There are many books about medicinal marijuana and I believe a marijuana based spray, which when applied to the area of discomfort, soothes and takes away some of the tension.Health Question & Answer

If you are in North or Mid Wales, ask her GP to refer to the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthoapedic and Disrict Hospital in Gobowen near Oswestry. They are a very specialist hospital and have back specialists and arthritis specialists who will do their best to help. Please don't worry - she'll not need to stay in bed forever and we're better off for benefits in Wales than England inc. free prescriptions.Health Question & Answer

Hi. There are treatments available but it depends on her individual case. She needs to speak to an Orthopaedic surgeon to explore what can be done. She should also ask to be reffered to the Pain clinic as they can help with appropriate pain relief.
If she can not work due to disability she should be entitled to Incapacity benift and should contact the local benifits office to make a claim. If the condition is making it impossible to complete basic tasks like bathing/cooking etc she may be entitled to other benifits too and should enquire at the benifits agency. (They should be able to tell her what benifits are available and provide her with the appropriate forms)
I would say that the Chiroprator is unlikely to help with this condition and she should look to conventional treatments for the time being. It seems pointless spending money on something that dosnt help.
Hope things work out well for her. xxHealth Question & Answer
