I am getting an endoscopy in the morning and I am really scared that it will make me sick! I am an emetophobic (fear of vomiting) has anyone had an endoscopy.? and what was it like.? thanksHealth Question & Answer

Yes I had one a few years ago. You'll be fine, i promise. I was given a sedative. I was awake through the whole thing. Its uncomfortable for like 2 seconds when the tube hits your throat and they tell you to swallow. Just tell them your scared. Good luck my dear xHealth Question & Answer
I was given general anesthesia for my procedure and didn't feel a thing during or after it. I don't know how your physician will handle it - either by general anesthesia or topical anesthesia. Either way - be sure to tell him/her of your problem.
