Question: I have narcolepsy and I'm 17 I miss so many days because my mom never gives me my medicine! What do I do!.?
Narcolepsy is sudden and uncontrollable episodes of deep sleep and I basically need to take amphetamines daily to awake and stay awake. Well my mother 'forgets' and I wake up many times at noon mad and angry! I really havent told anyone I have narcolepsy and I don't want to share with anyone.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
during your awake time leave big notes all over the house to remind your mom to give you your meds. do this daily even if she gets mad at you and when she does get mad tell her you need her to help you with your meds.

theres no sense wasting your life away sleeping it away...
see if you cant get a friend to send you a message by cell phone (if you have one) .
set your phone to vibrate and buzz and put it on your cloths where you can feel it when it buzzes... then you will be reminded to take your med even if you fall asleep you can be buzzed..
ask your teachers at school to help you as well. they are all under a confidents clausesensee they work for the govt and can not discuss your private life with any one....at all...

cheers

well you just shared it with the whole world so...

maybe you should get someone more "dependable" to give you your medicine, or try to do something for yourself to help the situation.Health Question & Answer

The simple fact is, you should remember to take your medication on your own. Mom won't be there forever. True, she should be there to remind you for now, but the end responsibility is yours.Health Question & Answer

Do you take your meds while asleep or awake.? If while awake, at 17 years old, you should be responsible enough to take your own medicine. No more relying on mom.Health Question & Answer

Your mother is being very irresponsible forgetting to give you your medication - especially with a condition like yours. try talking to her about it or another trusted person that can administer your medicationHealth Question & Answer
