Why does drinking water cause heart palpitations to calm/subside?!

Question: Why does drinking water cause heart palpitations to calm/subside.?
I had a problem with heart fluttering/palpitations for a while. The doctors couldn't find anything wrong with the structure of my heart or its valves, and ended up blaming it on "stress," which seemed wrong to me.

Anyhow, I notice that if I quickly drink cold water either during or after a palpitation episode, the palpitations subside almost immediately.

What could this mean.? Is the icewater somehow acting on a nerve which is controlling the palpitations.? Or is this a placebo effect.? I have tried a swallowing motion alone, without the water, and it is not successful.Health Question & Answer

I had the same thing happen to me but with any drink. The doctor gave me zanax but that just made me feel tired all the time. He then told me it was stress too. I got over it by going to Iraq with the military and fighting insurgent. it actually made me forget, combat is hellHealth Question & Answer
