Doctor tommorrow, scared.?!

Question: Doctor tommorrow, scared..?
Okay, so I have a really sore throat, and have to go to the doctor if it does'nt fix overnight, and since I have had it since Saturday morning, I don't think it's goin away. And, I am pretty sure it is strep throat, cause my mom said my throat is really red, and when you have strep, you have to get a finger prick, to make sure thats what it is, and I am super scared. I hate going to the doctor, HATE! The reason I am scared, is cause, 1. pain, and 2. you never know what they are going to do, except you might expect a finger prick, and I like being in control, lol. And, I always get really nervous when I go, so, yea, what should I do.? By the way, I'm 13, please answers by tommorrow morning.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
why would you be scared of the doctor when your in pain.? you should be scared of not going ot the doctor!. they do not prick your finger...they can usually look at your throat and know what it is, sometimes they will rub a cotton swab and examine it to verify that it is strep throat.
Listen the quicker you get to them, the better you'll feel- my daughter had it last year at about 7 years old. as soon as the anti-biotics hit her, she felt better within 3 hours. Promise you.Health Question & Answer

When I had strep I just got a long Q-tip down my throat and then a week of antibiotics. I've never heard of a finger prick before, which in any case isn't that bad. i have to do it once a year to check my cholesterol b/c my mom has super unusually high cholesterol. Think of people with diabetes who have to do it 3 to 4 times a day. It can't be that painful or scary.Health Question & Answer

I had the same thing in April and i got a finger prick and everything just to find out that i gagged for nothing (from the finger prick) I didn't have step throat I just had some weird allergy (which is gone now...WEIRD) anyway, you will be fune and if your still scared pray and ask God to protect you when you go to the Doctor.Health Question & Answer

I had strep throat last year in January, so I know exactly what you're feeling. The "finger prick" isn't a prick at all. They just take a cotton swab and take a quick wipe at your tonsils. It might make you gag once, but that's it. ^^Health Question & Answer

i understand your fear of needles.
i have the exact same problem, and i'm 14.
i still bawl like a 2 year old when i get shots. =)
haha. but to make it easier i always think of something that i know i can just totally get lost in. like twilight or something. or think about how much better you'll feel after. thinking about the future usually helps, too. like think to yourself.."in about 30 years i'll feel fine and i'll be okay so what happens today isn't a big deal".
i know, it's random, but it always helps me!!
haha, and i dunno if you'll get a finger prick. usually the doctor swabs your throat, which isn't that bad. it may gag you, but it lasts like half a second.Health Question & Answer
