Question: Is it harmful to sleep with a cat.?
My mom has told me that it was unhealthy to sleep with a cat. Not just her, but several people told me this too. That the fact that cats carry parasites, viruses,and inhaling air while sleeping with a cat can provoke illness. So...the question is:

No. I've had cats all my life who always slept on my bed and I never got sick. The only problem I ever had was waking up all sore because I must unconsciously not move while I'm asleep in order to not disturb the delicate prince and princess while they slumber (haha).

No, its not really a problem.
If it goes outside you should get vaccines for it (rabies esp.) and also frontline or similar med for parasites and fleas. Then it should be fine. If its an indoor cat there should be no problems. Its nearly impossible for viruses and other cat illnesses to pass to humans. You can't get their colds, pneumonia, etc, they can't get ours.? There are a few that can be passed to humans like rabies and stuff liek that but there are shots for them or they're very rare.
In terms of inhaling the air- unless you have asthma or cat allergies or you let the cat sleep on top of your face you should not have any problems.
So basically no, its not harmful at all unless you are not giving the cat the appropriate medical care like getting rabies shots and stuff to prevent parasites, fleas.Health Question & Answer

omg im 21 and my mom drives me nuts about having my two 7 month old cats in my room and sleeping with me too. yes they can carry parasites and viruses but do you know that we get more viruses than them and we dont even know.?.? you should be perfectly fine if your cat has all his or her shots and you are not allergic. there are plenty of people in the world who sleep with their pets and are fine...no illnesses and or deaths have been specifically related to animals sleeping with humans...unless it was because of allergies. so if you dont have allergies...you are good to go! tell her what i told my mom, if she can find a case, a real case, anywhere on how sleeping with a dog or cat or any other animal killed someone, maybe id consider it. it has to be legitimate though! besides, alot of people are like crazily afraid of germs that animals carry without even knowing the kind of crap they are carrying themselves! ok good luck!Health Question & Answer
If you take care of your cat you should be fine, take your cat to the vet regularly and check her yourself. Although cat feces can be harmful humans so make sure to clean her after she uses the "restroom" if you plan on sleeping with her.Health Question & Answer
