An endoscopy, as we all know, is most commonly a procedure where a camera is inserted down the esophagus in order to visualize the inside of the stomach. For years, doctors have tried to maintain a monopoly on the performance of endoscopies. However, did you know that you can do your own endoscopy at home for not much money at all.?
Thanks to computer technology, all you need is a cheap off-the-shelf wireless camera with a light source. Then just seal up the camera in a capsule or something, and attach it to a length of sterile hosing - I used an enema tube, for example.
You do have to resist the gag reflex, and make sure you don't choke yourself by feeding the scope into your airway, but now you can give yourself an endoscopy and watch the live results on your computer screen. I coated the tube in slippery elm for comfort. Features like ulcers are going to be fairly obvious if you know what to look for.
Obviously, if you see something strange, you should have THAT checked out by a doctor - though even then, you could simply post the video to a doctor's forum, and do a little telemedicine.

Endoscopies should not be performed at home. You may think that you're trying to save money by going and doing it yourself, but the only thing that you're doing is ruining various parts of your body, as there are various structures within your body that you're not sure are there, and some of the little capillaries and other little muscles you may cause more harm then good. The first tube has a camera at the end of it. The second is for instruments.

Because generally, with professional materials, and sedation so you don't gag, you need to go to a doctor. BTW, doctors don't pretend that they are the only ones that can do it.
BTW, you could take your own appendix out, you don't have to go to a doctor.
