Question: Really worried i am going to be sick, please help.?
My parents left for there holiday on 1st april 9.45am about 1hours after they left i felt sick,it's now 2.31am 2nd april and i still feel sick (haven't been sick tho) i do miss them loads and have held in tears because i miss them,and about 15Min's ago did cry because i miss them i don't feel as if i will need to run to the toilet any minute but i feel sick in my lower stomach (but i am due on soon) and also in-between my rib cage (basically in the tube is were food goes down,sorry its hard to explain),my boyfriend and best friend say this is just because i miss them and because i want to be with my dad and mum when i feel sick,they said its because i'm worried i will be sick and won't have them there so i'm anxious and getting worked up, is this what my feeling sick could be or is it something else.?

(btw i'm 15 there going away for 2 weeks and i know i sound babyish but i've never liked being away from my parents as a year ago i started getting home schooled and got closer to them and i also got a phobia of being sick,so if you want to call me a baby you can but it really isn't going to bother me as i know i'm being a baby but i just need some NICE peoples help) Thanks All xHealth Question & Answer

you feel sick for 2 reasons:-

1) you miss your parents
2) you are emetaphobic (fear being sick).

this means that any worries you have will immediately turn into something to do with being sick. you cant help it, its just the way it is. so if your parents are away you subconciously hope you wont feel ill because feeling ill is the worst thing that can happen to you right now. your really hoping that things dont go wrong and its that anxiety that makes your brain trick itself into think you feel sick.

i personally have a fear of being sick, i will refuse to go on a boat because if i do i'll be seasick, i dont want children because of morning sickness (very pathetic i know), wont go on tollercoasters and much more...

also people who suffer from emetaphobia often have anxiety issues when they feel out of thier comfort zone and often have panick attacks.

just take time to breath and relax and everything will be fine, chat to your friends or read a magazine to take your mind off it.

ginger either in tablet, root or biscuit form is good for curing nausea, so is peppermint sweets and for me i like chewing gum, not every body like that though.

also drink lots of fluids and eat citrus fruits.

what does "due on soon" mean.? are you pregnant and due any day now.? that could be the cause of your nausea. There are any number of reasons for the feelings your describe...you could have a mild stomach bug that makes you feel sick but not actually throw up, you might be nervous about being away from your parents, could be (if you're preggo) that the baby is getting ready to be born...I wouldn't worry too much about it...see how you feel tomorrow. Just because you're 15 doesn't mean you can't miss your parents that you love dearly. You are probably just a bit nervous about them being gone and that something bad will happen while they are away.
It sounds like you are getting yourself a bit wound up. Try to relax and think about how much fun it will be when they return and tell you all about their holiday and how glad they will be to see you.
Maybe you could talk to them on the phone every couple of days just to say hi.

Hey relax..its ok! im guessing you dont feel good because you are missing your parents. I understand and its normal! Get a movie and hang out with some friends to take your mind off everything. Really i use to get myself worked up to the point of feeling nauseous and to help me i took my mind off what was bothering me such as thinking about the happy moments! Give them a call!
