It he has never had a seizure in his life, it warrants a visit to the doctor. Doctors do tests (much like detectives) to rule out pathology. Ask the doctor to order an EEG, (electroencephalograph), a spinal tap, a head CT (cat scan) and a MRI of his brain. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging does not expose him to radiation and renders exceptional detail.

If the doctor finds no reason for his seizure, ask for a referral to a neurologist. Since he had one seizure (he could have another) he should not drive or work around dangerous machinery until all possible avenues of investigation have been exhausted.

Even if all tests come back negative, they are now considered baseline studies which means future studies will have something to be compared to for evidence of change, this is very important.

Ask the doctor for copies of the CT and MRI and other test results.

The doctor will write (on the prescription form) an order for the technologist to make a copy (DVD) for him at the time of his procedures (CT and MRI) at no charge.

Whether he travels (or not) keep those records handy for future reference in case he has further problems.

If he has an appointment to see another doctor have him hand carry the records with him so that the new doctor has everything pertaining to him all together at one time in one place.

Good luck!

are you sure it was a seizure.? you need to take him to the doctor as soon as possible. if it was a seizure from epilepsy, he needs to be diagnosed and on medication. if it wasn't, they need to find out what caused it- it could be something so simple as that he had low blood sugar. get him checked to be safe.Health Question & Answer
