Can you call-in a prescription?!

Question: Can you call-in a prescription.?
If you always get your meds at a certain pharmacy, and are in a hurry and don't want to wait, can you call them in yourself beforehand.? I know a doctor can but how about a patient/customer.?

Sorry if this is dumb...... but I am young and just never really had to do this before..Health Question & Answer

It depends on if the Dr ordered refills.. If its something like birth control, you can call them in to make sure they are ready when you get there.. But for a new Rx or anything not already ordered by a Dr, no you cannot..Health Question & Answer

All these answers are correct.. And you've already answered your own qustion by saying it's for just a refill..

When you call into a drug store for a prescription, it's the same as showing up and telling them you want it.. You are only informing them differently..

However, the prescription itself HAS to have the ability for refills, as prescribed by the doctor.. If the doc gives you 3 refills, and you've already had 3 refills, no amount of calling will get you an extra refill..
Then the doctor has to write you a new prescription..
Otherwise, yes, call it in, so you don't have to wait in line!!Health Question & Answer
