Well this depends on if you mean after you die or while you are living, while you are living no, it is a huge risk. But when I first got my drivers license and they asked me, I was freaked at the thought and said "no!" for years I said no, then when I was around 32 I decided that I did want to be a donor because what good will my good body parts do me when I am dead if someone else could use them or if they can save lives.
Right now my cousin's little boy is 7, he needs a heart and lung transplant, has a tube in his heart and the medication is in a tank, he has to wear a backpack and one slip up of medication can cost him his life, and if the med goes bad, that too can kill him.
He is on a waiting list. And because so many people choose not to be donors, other people die when they don't have to.

I want to make a difference in other people's live while I am alive, but I also want to continue the help when I am gone from here. Our spirits leave our bodies immediately upon our bodies dying, we don't feel a thing, we are free.
If you want to be a donor, make sure when you renew your drivers license, that you let them know it is what you want to do.
Health Question & Answer

Yes, you should be an organ donor :-). Think about it... if you end up donating an organ then you'll be dead (sorry to put it that way) and won't care. I am an organ donor because I would like to be able to give the gift of life should my life be taken. I feel good knowing that my organs will go to a good cause if I die.

Pros: giving the gift few can give.. gift of life to someone who is dying.
you save your family the difficult decision should you die... they'll have enough to worry about as it is.

Cons: your family may have preferences on how they want your body to be treated... some people have a hard time knowing that their loved one will be cut open before being buried. (ultimately, this is YOUR decision, not theirs, but make sure you let them know of your wishes should you decide to donate). Some religions have rules regarding organ donation.

No one will come knocking at your door for you to donate an organ unless you volunteer to donate a kidney at a time in need to a relative or friend. Health Question & Answer

I am an organ donor and would hope that you ( and others ) decide to become one too. If something were to happen to you, it would allow your unfortunate situation to end up helping someone else who could really use the assistance. Sort of like allowing you to live on ( at least a part of you ) after you pass on.
